Deleted Facebook account, now I cannot access Spotify

Solved!

Deleted Facebook account, now I cannot access Spotify

I have deleted my Facebook account and now am unable to access my original Spotify account. I had to create this account to post a thread here since my original Spotify account is "already in use." I contacted spotify support twice but haven't had any replies in my spam or inbox. I'm mainly concerned that I will continue being charged for a Spotify premium account I'm locked out of, but would like to continue the premium service under my original account if possible.

My original Facebook account was "w*****r@gmail.com"

Thanks,

Denny

@samuelreed - You will need a new account, but the support team can move your playlists and things over for you. If you get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form they will be able to do that for you.

If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

Alternatively, if you prefer support via Twitter, please tweet @SpotifyCares.

Sorry, Meredith but that is not something you've clearly communicated to me.  I've had the same issue and it is very, very frustrating.  The number of users with this sort of problem seem to suggest it is not a once off either.  Listening to customers and improving your service accordingly is the best way to make them happy to pay!

Marked as solution

Here is what I did.
Spotify makes it easy to cancel and register for Premium so I canceled my current subscription since I wasn't going to waste my time retrieving my old FB account.
I created a new account just using an e-mail and password (did not link to any social media account).
They offer a free 30 day trial anyway so you don't have to worry about 2 charges in one month.
Sure, it sucks having to find and download music again but if by now you don't access WiFi and can't remember the music that really like, then you're better off using Pandora.
Spotify, you're doing well. Thanks.

@cecastro04 - How to disconnect from Facebook depends on how your account was created. See this post for all of the details:

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you

I suggest you contact support so they can help you

https://www.spotify.com/about-us/contact/contact-spotify-support/

If you get an automated reply email telling you to check the help section or the community, you need to reply back to it, even if it's from a no-reply address.

Support usually replies within 24-48 hours.

Hi. I am about to lose my patience with spotify here. I have deactivated my Facebook and I intend to delete it. But anytime I sign into spotify it reopens my Facebook account. I cannot have this! My spotify account premium comes through free with my Vodafone pay monthly account. How do I delete facebook but continue to use my spotify???? I'm ready at the stage of smashing my phone as this is getting so aggravating. Please just give me details on how I can use my spotify premium with the need for **bleep**ing Facebook!

Unfortunately, if you registered your account with FB, you'll have to
cancel your Spotify subscription and create a new account by using an
e-mail and password rather than the FB login option it provides.
It's an inconvenience but the quickest and easiest solution... and only one
in my experience.

how can i login to spotify using my facebook account..

how can i recover my playlist??

You can not recover playlists or stored music once you deactivate your
Spotify account and activate a new one.
You're basically starting from scratch.
Best thing to do is jot down your playlists and just find it all on the new
account.
Sounds like a pain but Spotify is beyond user friendly, you'll probably
even be glad to be having a fresh start! 🙂

how did you cancel premium if you cant log in. I deactivated my facebook account and now i cant log into my spotify account. advice?

I have deleted my Facebook account and no longer have the email that the Facebook account was linked to. I want to delete the spotify as I don't use it and am getting charged for it. How can I get into that account to delete it?

Hi all,

Similar problem here, I have deleted my FB account and cannot login to my Spotify account anymore. My e-mail is connected to my FB, so when entering my e-mail to create a new account, it says that this e-mail is taken.

The sarcastic thing is that in some of the answers in this forum, the proposed solution is to fill a form to customer support. But you have to be logged in, which I cannot do. Sounds like the perfect Catch 22.

I wonder whether there is a phone/chat that I can talk to to cancel my account and create it anew. Obviously, giving my private information in this public forum is not a good idea.

Spotify team, any ideas?

hi, Gfreddy. I deleted my FB account and my spotify account linked to my FB. I was premium account holder. But I can not sign in any longer once I logged it out. Do you know what should I do? Thanks. I created another account linked to my email.

I have the same issue and SPOTIFY can't even help me. Why is it so hard for them to just unlink my premium account form the old profile that's linked to me (deleted) Facebook account which I can no longer recover? This is so frustrating

Guys, I can't provide further assistance on this.

I resolved my issue back in 2013/2014 by my response that was accepted as a solution.

I've been jamming trouble-free on Spotify since and have made sure to NEVER EVER EVER link ANY program/app to other social media platforms.

I'm more upset about the removal of in-app chatting with other Spotify users.
