Duplicate account thanks to Gmail/Google features. No help from CS or SpotifyCares

Hi,

I'm posting here as I'm getting nowhere contacting Customer Services directly, and @SpotifyCares is a joke.  I've tweeted 3 times and they've not bothered replying.  There's definitely someone there, as they've replied to hundreds of other tweets in the meantime.

The issue I have has come up because Google does not recognise dots/periods in e-mail addresses.

From the Google Help pages - it won't let me link it unfortunately, as apparently HTML isn't allowed.

"Gmail doesn't recognize dots as characters within usernames, you can add or remove the dots from a Gmail address without changing the actual destination address; they'll all go to your inbox, and only yours. In short:
homerjsimpson@gmail.com = hom.er.j.sim.ps.on@gmail.com
homerjsimpson@gmail.com = HOMERJSIMPSON@gmail.com
homerjsimpson@gmail.com = Homer.J.Simpson@gmail.com
All these addresses belong to the same person. You can see this if you try to sign in with your username, but adding or removing a dot from it. You'll still go to your account.

If you get mail that seems to be intended for someone else, it's likely that the sender entered the wrong address, just like if you've ever dialed a wrong phone number for someone. In these cases, we suggest contacting the original sender or website when possible to alert them to the mistake."

So let's say my e-mail address is annoyed.email.123@gmail.com.  I have an existing Spotify account, but haven't used it in years (since 2012 anyway) as I've no interest in the service.  Recently, someone who really seems to think that their e-mail address is annoyedemail123@gmail.com has signed up for a Premium Trial.  So I'm now getting e-mails for them, asking me if I want to extend the trial, telling me about all this great spotify stuff etc etc.

This is not the first time I've had this issue.  This person has been causing me problems for at least a year.  She has done this with Netflix, Steam and Origin. In fact, with Origin, she managed to get into the account using a roundabout security feature and then changed the password etc.  I had a heck of a time getting it back, and since then she's forced me to change my password about 20 times in the past year, and I'm heartily fed up.

So, I'm trying to get Spotify to get in touch with this woman, and force her to change her e-mail address to, you know, HER e-mail address, rather than mine.  However, it appears the CS person who took the case (Rolando) can't read, as he simply informed me that annoyedemail123@gmail.com isn't my e-mail address, and completely ignored the rest of my e-mail.

So here I am, posting here, hoping that someone with a brain cell will read and be able to help.  This person is using my e-mail address and has signed me up for a service I've no interest in having.  Yes, I could block all the e-mails or whatever, but it doesn't address the problem.  I don't want my e-mail address being used by someone else, and the flip side is that who knows, this idiot might actually want to sign up for Spotify Premium, but is not getting any of the e-mails inviting her to do so.  Bit silly of you to be missing out on a potential business opportunity simply because you refuse to read the explanation from Google itself.

I really hope someone can help out, as I'm at the end of my tether.

Hey @ReallyAnnoyed

Sorry to hear about this. Could you respond here with the case number of your email support request? I'll chase this up for you.

I'm trying to be professional with my music but Spotify is causing me some issues. I have an account set up under my email and was attempting to access it to put my album online. It seems as if Spotify decided to create a seperate account from my original even though I used the same exact email address to log in. Can someone please help me rectify this situation. Because of this I am losing income.
