Excessive data usage app

we use family plan Spotify premium (The Netherlands). And today in France Spotify started to use 180MB per minute at an Android mobile phone. We saw this not earlier than it used already 6,5 GB. We don’t know what happened and we were not listening to any music. We can’t reach Spotify and we are not happy with this action. What can be wrong with the app? Anybody else ever had the same?

Sorry to hear that this high data drain has happened to you on your trip. 

 

It's best to reach out directly to our customer support team here about this. Please prepare the following information in advance and explain to them what has happened. They should be able to check why this might have happened and help further.

  • Exact date of the High Data Usage
  • What were they doing at the time? e.g. at home, driving, abroad
  • How much data was used
  • Device model & OS version
  • Spotify version
  • Is the setting Download over cellular switched on or off
