Family Plan — Remove member

I added two members to my Family plan. My wife hardly uses it so I need to reduce to just one. I could only remove her from the members list but I guess I'll continue to be charged. How do I ensure I will be charged only for one family member and not two?

I added my wife thinking she would like spotify because i use it a lot.  She just doesn't use it.  I am trying to remove her but according to the policy it sounds like once i go to family plan i am stuck with the 15.99 and can't go back to just me as a user.  This will cause me to terminate my use of spotify because i don't mind paying 9.99 a month but paying for another user is bullshet.

Hi there and welcome to the Spotify Community!

You can check out member until you're stuck at 2. If you want to get back to a single user subscription, use the first link @MattSuda sent you to get rid of the family plan. After you quit that plan you can subscribe again to the single user plan.

Hey @1238305932

You will first need to cancel the family plan, and then resubscribe to the regular premium. Then on the next billing cycle it will be 9.99 for just one user.

I just had to go through this to remove my wife from the plan. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. And now I see it's $9.99 "plus tax". Is that the reason for the run-around, to collect tax on people that weren't paying already?

To switch from a '+2 Family Member' plan to a '+1 Family Member' plan, follow this simple and intuitive 10-step plan to success;

1. Go to 'Manage Family'.

2. Realize you can't actually do anything to actually remove someone.

3. Completely and utterly cancel your membership.

4. Re-subscribe as a Spotify Premium member without a family plan.

5. Go to 'Manage Family'

6. Realize you still can't actually do anything to remove someone, even though you have cancelled your family membership, because the billing cycle has not finished.

7. Wait for your billing cycle to end and for your family member's Spotify to suddenly stop working.

8. Re-subscribe to Spotify Family (+1).

9. Send your now un-subscribed family member an invitation to join your Spotify Family.

10. Enjoy!

lolz!!

Yeah. Love their simplicity of this. I upgraded to a +2 by accident because....well, it's just so easy and fun to do. Now I'm in the same situation

Really hesitant to do the '10 step plan to happiness' because I don't trust them not to kill my playlists. Apparently they're working on a fix for this now so I might just wait a month or so to see if they sort it out properly first.

Amazing how they didnt think of this before!!
