How do I change my display name?

My Question or Issue

When I signed up for mEnter a name in What should we call you?  I'd like to change that name but can't find any option to do so.  Is there an option, or, like the username, can it not be changed?  I use a computer with Windows 10.

You can connect your account to Facebook to display your Facebook name.

Thanks for the welcome, Kate, and for replying.  I connected to Facebook yesterday to find friends that use Spotify but that didn't change my display name.  I logged in again this morning and my display name was that same as always.  It displayed my Facebook photo, but not the name.  Any other ideas or is it a lost cause?

Hey there @Laura2386,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

Unfortunately, if you've already picked a profile name when you created your Spotify account, connecting your Facebook profile should still show that profile name. This would explain what happened here.

In this case, we'd recommend creating a new account to enter your preferred name during sign up. Alternatively, you can sign up for a new account through Facebook directly.

Note: Be sure to cancel any subscriptions on the existing account if you decide on creating a new account.

Your new account won’t have access to any playlists, followers, or anything saved in Your Library on the existing account. However, you can follow the steps provided in this Spotfy Answer to have your playlists and people you follow over to your new account.

I was afraid of that.  I appreciate your help, I was afraid that was it.  It's not that big a deal, I just wish in future they could find a way to change that name.  All I wanted to do was add my last name, but since I can't, that's okay.  I'm enjoying Spotify and will just continue as is.  Especially since I've worked hard on those playlists!
