Is it not possible to send invites from a Family plan sub-account?

If invites can only be sent from the main account, then is it possible to switch so that one of the subs can be the main?

Spotify Support assisted through DM on Twitter. They instructed me to
cancel the current Family Plan, begin another with me as the owner instead
of my son, and then they refunded my current billing cycle because it was
withing 14 days of my last payment. Definitely appreciated and it's that
kind of support that builds loyalty.

Hey @Stewsey ,

Thanks for coming to the Community.

It's not possible to change the owner of your Premium for Family plan. The current owner would first need to cancel. Then, when all accounts revert to the free, ad-supported service at the next billing date, a new owner can start a new plan.

Keep in mind that you can only switch from one Family plan to another once every 12 months.

Hope this helps 🙂

@Maxim, Could I get clarification on this?

"Then, when all accounts revert to the free, ad-supported service at the next billing date, a new owner can start a new plan."

Our billing cycle began only five days ago. If we cancel/switch now, would we be forfeiting money since this month has been billed and a new plan would start now? In other words, nothing would be pro-rated and, to avoid losing anything, I should wait until the 6th of next month?

Hey @Stewsey ,

No, you can cancel the subscription now and it will not immediately end. It'll run out on the day of your next payment date. 🙂

Yeah but if I start a new family plan, that billing cycle of $15 will begin
today. Shouldn't I just ride out this current one?

Hey @Stewsey ,

It is correct that subscribing will make your billing date the current one. If you want to be the owner of a new plan, it'd be better if you ask the current plan's owner to cancel.

Then, once everyone is back on Free, you can subscribe to be the Premium for Family plan's owner and invite your family members.

You can also check out this support article for more clarifications around your billing date 🙂

Thanks.
