My display name isn't the same as my log-in username

I just created a new account and when I'm logged in it shows my proper username but to log-in I have to use a random string of letters and numbers. Is there anyway I can get them to match because the reason I made a new account is becuse this is what I had to do with my old one. I also checked that my username wasn't already taken by going onto the forgotten password bit and it said my username wasn't associated with any active Spotify account.

welcome to spotify! and sorry to hear about this issue but it may just be due to the fact that you have a new spotify account.. just give it a few days and should be fine:).

Thanks for reaching out.

As Spotify looks to improve the overall experience, they’re now automatically generating usernames, hence the random letters and numbers.

You don’t need to remember this to log in. You can access your account with your email address and password.

During signup, you were able to personalize your account by creating a profile name that’s displayed in the app. There’s no limitations to a profile name, so you were able to choose any name you like 🙂
