I am facing a weird issue from several days. Had to create a new account due to this too because support couldn't find the issue which later I found after several attempts.
Whenever I turn off the privacy toggles of 'Process my Facebook data" and "Process my personal data for tailored ads', songs don't grouped with playlist covers. It only shows the songs and If I turn them back on then after few hours playlists covers start to appear again.
I don't understand the logic here. These settings shouldn't be linked to something like this ever and user should have control for these settings independently.
Are you guys experiencing the same or if someone kind enough to try it themselves and get back?
P.S. I have attached the screenshots of both when the playlist covers appeared and when only songs appeared.
Hey buddy,
Thanks for posting it here, Apologies if you had to go through this whole rocky experience. It was never our intention on making things difficult for you.
Considering what's happening, can you try these two solid workarounds?
First, please try to logout from your account, restart your device, then log back in. It may sound simple but this usually do the trick.
If in case it won't allow you to logout, we suggest reinstalling the app instead.
Reinstalling the app fixes many common issues and makes sure it’s fully up-to-date.
Note: You need to re-download any downloaded music and podcasts after reinstalling the app.
Either of these should work like a magic but if it's still won't let you jam to your favorite tunes, it would be great if you can do the following:
*Update the app
*clear the cache
Hope the above information will be helpful. We hope we gave you a reason to smile today 🙂

Seriously? These are the first instructions which support gives and these don't work in most of the times. I also tried everything before deleting my previous account. Getting this issue only when I turn off these options. I feel that it's intentional from Spotify's side which isn't ethically right.
Anyone?
Hey @geekyhn,
Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community.
There should be no connection between your account Data Settings and playlist covers.
We tried reproducing this on oue end, however we didn't get the same result.
Can you let us know if you're still experiencing this issue on your new account?
Cheers.
Ikr this is what user should be able to decide whether he/she wants to turn on or off without affecting the functionality of the app. But sadly I have tried it multiple times in the past and whenever I turn these off playlist covers stopped appearing in Recently Played page.
The options are on from several days and I am getting playlist covers in Recently Played just fine.
You know let me turn these off now and wait for few hours. I will update it how it goes this time. Keep in mind it takes few hours to update.
See, the moment after I wrote my previous post I turned off those settings and after 3 hours I played few songs and it didn't produce playlist covers in 'Recently Played' list which were fine from almost two weeks when I had these options on.
So there is seriously something wrong with these options. Spotify must do something about this and if you guys want to help you can reproduce this issue by turning off both privacy toggles and play songs after a playlist after 3 hours minimum.
Hey @geekyhn,
Thanks for the reply.
Could you let us know your current Spotify app version. Along with your device make, model and OS version.
It would also be helpful is you clarify if what you're describing is happening on the new account or your original one and let us know if the album covers are missing on all your devices - desktop, mobile, web.
Please submit a screenshot where the Recently played covers are missing.
Cheers.
Version: 8.6.82.1113
Device: Huawei P20 Lite
OS: Android 9
I am currently having this issue with my account. This used to happen with my previous account whereas my sibling had playlist covers so I created new account for this specific issue as support couldn't identity the issue.
Only the mobile app display playlist covers in 'Recently Played'. This feature isn't available for the desktop.
I have several screenshots in my previous posts. Can't you see?
P.S. I also told one of my sibling to turn off these privacy settings and check whether playlist covers appears after that and in the morning when we checked her playlist covers also stopped producing in 'Recently Played' so it's clear a Spotify's issue.
Hey @geekyhn,
Thanks for the reply.
A new version of the app was just released yesterday, could you try and run a clean reinstall of the app. You should land on Version 8.6.84.
Let us know if the issue is still present afterwards.
I am on 8.6.84 but the issue still persists. I tried turning those settings off again and wait for 3-4 hours. When I played songs playlists covers stopped producing again.
Why don't you recreate this issue yourself. Turn these options on and play 1-2 songs from any playlist then see if playlist covers appears in Recently Played.
Hi @geekyhn,
Thanks for the reply.
We'd like to test this further.
Can you switch your Privacy settings ON and play this Playlist.
After that upload a screenshot of how Recently Played looks like.
We'll be testing this on our end at the same time.
Looking forward to your reply.
I don't understand why did you ask me to play this particular playlist when I already told in details that all the playlists give me same result when I turn ON both settings.
Anyways, I did ON those settings and when played this playlist, playlist covers were display as seen in the screenshot.
Hey @geekyhn,
Thanks for the reply and for going through this troubleshooting with us.
We've done some more testing internally and have reported this issue to the right teams at Spotify, who are currently looking into this.
We'll let you know here as soon as we have more information.
Cheers.
Okay. I hope that you will be able to sort this issue out because it is very frustrating issue I have been facing. I want to turn off those settings but feel that it's being forced on users to keep these on as it breaks few things.
Hi there @geekyhn,
Thank you for your reply.
We understand and as mentioned above we've reported this to the right team and we'll get back to you as soon as we have more information regarding this.
Have a great continued weekend 🙂
Take care!
Hey again @geekyhn,
Just wanted to let you know that the teams involved are thankful for your report on this matter, and we can confirm this is now on track to be resolved at some point next year, although we can't provide an exact timeline.
Again, thanks for your report. If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.
Cheers!
It's been a long time I posted about this weird issue here and it's still not fixed. I want to know if developers will ever work on this.
I am sure that it is easy to fix. Is there any better to get this to developers?
Hey @geekyhn,
Thanks for your post.
As we've previously mentioned this is on track to be fixed at some point this year. We don't have official information on exactly when.
We know this is frustrating and it seems like an easy to fix issue, but rest assured the right teams at Spotify are working on this.
We'll update you here as soon as we have more info.
Take care.
I've had this problem for over a year and didn't know how to fix it, and neither did Spotify Support from my country who just ignored me. At least now I can have Playlist covers by enabling Spotify to process my data both on Facebook(which I don't have anymore) and tailored ads
