Playlists Being Falsely Reported!!!

Playlists Being Falsely Reported!!!

I've been put into an extremely frustrating situation that some of you may have also had problems with. Someone is falsely reporting my playlists, and there's nothing I can do about it. When someone reports your playlist, Spotify will automatically remove the playlist title, playlist bio, and playlist avatar, even if there is nothing that is breaking the rules of the user agreement policy.

I run a rather large Indie/Alternative music blog, and my most recent Spotify playlist quickly gained traction and was starting to build a pretty decent sized following. However, I woke up two days after creating it to find that playlist title was blank and there was no bio. Thinking this was an error or glitch in the system, I changed it back. Not more than 30 minutes later, everything went blank again. After 5 more times of this happening, I contacted Spotify about this issue. They let me know that someone has been reporting my playlist for copyright. Well, I had no playlist picture, I was using the standard Spotify playlist art, the title was "Positive Energy Indie/Alternative Tunes" and there was absolutely nothing that would suggest a copyright issue. To fix this issue and get my playlist back, I had to file a counter-claim, and the user who flagged my playlist will have 10 days to respond. However, even if my playlist gets republished, that same user can report it again and I will be in this same issue all over again. Spotify also told me that it would be extremely hard to pinpoint the user that is falsely reporting my playlist, so there's pretty much nothing I can do about it.

As someone that depends on Spotify for my music blog and social media channels, I can not afford to have someone reporting my playlists just for the fun of it, whether that be for better SEO rankings or just because they don't like my channel. I do not wish this problem on anyone, and I think it is an absolutely terribly flawed system that can be abused way too often. There has to be a better reporting system on Spotify's end, or at least some greater protection for users that value Spotify's service and depend on it for their business.

Do you have any updates on this? Did speaking to someone higher up and getting an infringement claim response stop your playlist from getting taken down? I'd love to know, Thanks!

My Question or Issue

Spotify keeps sending me these moronic automated emails that a playlist is in violation of their content policy (which is a vague document and entirely moronic), then never responds to the emails I send for clarification. It’s not a lewd playlist. The photo on it has been birds, which I keep changing to see if that’s the issue.

Why does Spotify shave terrible customer service and what is the actual point of the customization of these fools can randomly wipe it out with now explanation?

The fact that I have now sent half a dozen emails, the playlist has been wiped again, and there is no response from either this or their email system is pushing me to consider the pros of cancellation.
spotify can’t be this tone deaf and stupid, but alas. Here we are.

Spotify is actually doing nothing. It's so frustrating. This has been going on for years and they don't care. I'm being falsely reported from a guy that just wants to steal my playlist, copying my songs and title. I keep asking staff from spotify, reaching out on twitter, insta, messaging, emails, spotify community, and nothing happens. They just say "We moved it to a department to help you better" and nothing happens and noone says anything. This is frustrating. Abusable report system in such a big platform and you guys do nothing. Pathetic.

I’ve been trying to get Spotify to stop the absurdity of one of my playlists, with no followers mind you, to stop being reported.

They merged my topic with yours, didn’t respond to a single email out of dozens, and now I’m just looking for an alternative to stop their service.

Bad customer service and an effectively useless engagement committee means I am actively going to speak out against Spotify due to their ineptitude.

I’m beyond disappointment, at this point. They are intentionally obtuse and helping trolls.

Spotify - I genuinely doubt any of your peons will read this and those that might have no power, so you’re tying your own hands to watch the fire burn.

For anyone reading this:

Since Spotify is adamantly refusing to fix their problem and actively making listening to music with easy to find playlists that we like and appreciate, go use Tidal.
it has a feature to port over all your Spotify playlists. I will be getting my things squared and migrating over there because of Spotify’s horrid customer service and poor attitude.

My Russian Indie music playlist, which is of my own creation, has been taken down now 65 times, despite breaking no policy. Sometimes, it will be taken down 13 times in a day, as if a bot is automatically reporting my playlist, and sometimes it will be days in between. Spotify sends takedown notifications and refuses to add any clarifying details. I have reached out to support multiple times and usually they either end the chat abruptly or refuse to help in anyway as if they are hiding something (https://imgur.com/a/Q5CRWcg) The playlist cover is an image my friend took, though I have used other pictures I took and it is still taken down. I have used different titles, and it also gets taken down. Spotify refuses to help in any way thus far

This only started happening once my playlist reached 1500 or so followers, so I assume this maybe is someone reporting to boost their own playlist in the algorithm. Here is an example of the policy takedown notifications I get (https://imgur.com/a/bq2z4CN). They all say the following:

Hello,

We have found the following content to be in violation of our content policies, and we have removed it. Please see our Spotify Terms and Conditions of Use for more information.

spotify:playlist:2DOGiBW9GNrt7IZspLHeVA

Regards,

Spotify

When I reach out to ask what policy I have broken, they refuse to say anything, often times the support either just ends the chat or refuses to elaborate or acknowledge me. This is incredibly frustrating, and I have changed everything about this playlist to try to get it to not be taken down, but every single time it gets reported. I had a friend tell me that if you report a playlist, spotifiy does not actually investigate if the playlist is breaking any rules and will just take it down. He showed this to me, and as soon as he reported a playlist, it was taken down. I just want my playlist to stay up, these taken downs hurt the follower growth a lot and I just want my playlist to be in peace without having to redo it every day.

Same problem since one month ( no explication on witch pictures or titles had been reported ) MisterSoup

My Question or Issue

I've been getting multiple report takedown notifications on one of my playlists:

Policy Report Notification from "**bleep**"

Hello,

We have found the following content to be in violation of our content policies, and we have removed it. Please see our Spotify Terms and Conditions of Use for more information.

spotify:playlist:6pqqv4bZC15g0KliJyNTXG

There is no reason stated in the email, and I've taken out what I thought was an offending/copyright playlist photo and it still gets taken down. I got 3 of these in the span of 1.5 hours today. Before today it was happening every so often.

Please advise. What exactly is wrong with my playlist?

My playlist has also been reported falsely for the last month and half. A minimum of 5 times a day, somedays over 30 times a day!!! It doesn't matter if i change the image or the title it still gets reported and taken down. This clearly shows it's being falsely reported. Obviously it must be someone with a similar niche playlist trying to make me abandon. I can see other similar playlists are also being reported, most likely by the same person.

I have sent dozens of emails, spoken to support and nothing. I have received 2 times an email from Spotify saying my playlist was finally "protected" (as long as i didn't change the image or the title/description) and both times it was taken down within an hour of receiving that email! Absolutely crazy and extremely frustrating.

Spotify support chat is not helping, their answer is always something like "we cannot give you any additional info, we are ending the conversation here, sorry".

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Whoever is reporting falsely my playlist has taken it to the next level and probably installed a bot to automatically report my playlist. It gets reported within 2 minutes of being public. Yesterday i spent my whole day reuploading my playlist which i did up to a 100 times!! all day and within 2 minutes it was down everytime.

My playlist is down now, the bad guy has won and Spotify support has not done anything about it.

Will leave the platform at the end of the month.

Hello I have the same Problem.

My picture and title was deleted.

I get the following E-mail:

Hello,

We have found the following content to be in violation of our content policies, and we have removed it. Please see our Spotify Terms and Conditions of Use for more information.

spotify:playlist:26XXGFmopJ8u4FSYJn7g0O

Regards,

Spotify"

Unfortunatelly I have no idea was is the issue.

Can you help me?

I suddenly got a "Takedown Notification" from Spotify yesterday, they deleted the "INFINITY BASS" name I had on one of my playlists, and I tried going to their direct support, they couldn't help me at all. That is apparently another set of people, that you can't talk to.

"We have found the following content to be in violation of our content policies, and we have removed it. Please see our Spotify Terms and Conditions of Use for more information."

This is what the email said and I can't find anywhere that the name I had for my playlist, is against any terms. There are loads of playlists with similar names.

It must be someone with a similar playlist trying to kick you out of the game. Don't expect any support from Spotify.

This will last until any of you two gets tired of reporting the playlist or re-uploading the playlist.

Good luck.

The worst part about it, is that no matter what I name it It gets removed within 3-5 mins. People seriously needs to get a hobby.
