So there's multiple threads where Premium switches to free. When trying to enter payment info again using a credit card you get the "Oops" message saying something is wrong on the credit card side when it's actually a Spotify payment system issue. For me it seems this problem only happens when an account has a family plan.

 

The surefire way to fix this is to switch to Paypal.  Done. If you want the same CC# to be used be sure to switch the default payment in Paypal to be the CC#.

 

forget the support team and waiting up 24 hrs, only to have them ask you to do all sorts of things on your side (different browser, etc) that results in no resolution after X days.

 

Spotify, it's great that you're agile and dropping all sorts of new code to do this and that.  Be sure your core infrastructure is rock slid...you know, the payment system that pays everyone at Spotify.

 

And this 24 hr lead time nonsense for paid users is pretty awful too. Ideally I would like a chat option for paid users (or paid users that got dropped to free due to a Spotify glitch). At the very least get that 24hr lead time down to less than 1 hr for payment issues.
