I was listening to music on spotify today and working for several hours. While I was working I switched over to the spotify application running on my computer to see an ad that stated that my account had been hacked by some gu named sammi and mentioned protectyourselfie.org. I looked it and him up on youtube and google and he seems to be a proud hacker and the website protectyourselfie.org seemed to be some website on the google search list. I did not dare click it. I also researched on the spotify community that this ad has popped up for a few people.... I have uninstalled spotify and am very upset.
SPOTIFY TEAM
please fix this. its scary...

Hi @wiplashmctavish and welcome to the community!
I've never heard of that but what is your problem right now?
Can you still login to the client? Why did you delete it? I think if a hacker has done changes to your program he has access to your computer (virtually). Was your account associated/registered with facebook? I suggest that you push the "sign out everywhere" button here http://spotify.com/account/overview/ and after that change your passwords of spotify/email-adress/facebook. Use an anti-virus software to figure out if you have any trojans on your computer and if yes, make a clean reinstallation of your computer.
This is the link that i read of other people who have had this ad pop up but they dont say anything about hacking just that it is loud and annoying
I can still log in. I deleted it because I was scared. I ran an antivirus and did not yield any results. My account is not registered with facebook. I dont have a facebook.
If this is an advertisement that the spotify team is not supporting then I don't see why it isnt possible that he is hacking your advertising.
However I admit. I am not knowledgable about such issues...
I will reinstall my computer software. But i do not know if I want spotify on my computer anymore.

This website has a picture of this guy sammi on it and it says "lets get hacking" this is very confusing. are these people promoting hacking or against it? Their commercials make no sense. It just shows this taking their information and then the commercial ends. I cannot make heads or tails of it! ANYWHERE!
