So recently there's been an update that makes Spotify open upon logging into Windows. Now, this is a feature I personally don't use nor do I like using it, so I wanted to turn it off. I looked through the preferences and scrolled down to the "Startup and Windows Behaviour" settings and saw that an option titled, "Open Spotify automatically after you log into the computer," was available to tweak. It's a drop down menu, which gives three options: Minimized, Yes, and No. It was already on No, but it still starts up upon logging in. So I tried changing it to Yes and letting it do its thing the next day, and that day I switched it back to No. It still opens upon logging into the computer. I have yet to try Minimized but I doubt that'll work. Is there a way to stop this?

I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION!!
In the Startup settings, turn the "Open Spotify automatically after you log into the computer" to "No." Then disable Spotify's ability to open from the web. For me, it works, and Spotify hasn't been opening on its own since. I hope it works for the rest of you too.
Agreed. This is happening after a recent update. I do not want Spotify starting up every time I start Windows and the preference seems to be broken.
This is a long-time gripe of Spotify updates--this preference should not be set by default to start up on Windows startup. It's really not cool.
I've noticed this recently as well, and agree that it's really annoying. I have always kept that setting on 'No'.
In Windows, you can open up the list of tasks which will run on Startup in a utility called MSCONFIG. From there you can choose to disable things ... I can remember one time in the past that Spotify stopped honoring this setting, but I was able to disable it on startup using MSCONFIG. Now, I do that... and it adds itself back to that list! It is COMPLETELY disregaring what I have asked it to do.
Please, fix this!
At the suggestion of customer support, I uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify on my machine.
I also tried that setting to no longer "Allow Spotify to be opened from the web".
I'm not sure which one did the trick, but it looks stable after a week.
