Spotify thinks that I am in Sweden but I am not

Spotify thinks that I am in Sweden but I am not

Hello. I am bit annoyed using Spotify because Spotify thinks that I am in Sweden but I never was there. My country is Lithuania. And I can not change country in my account setting. I am using free version but still I think I should have ability to select correct country.

If you are listening from a device or network that has an active VPN or firewall, there is a chance your IP address is actually from Sweden, in which case Spotify would think you were in Sweden. Could you go to https://www.maxmind.com/en/locate-my-ip-address and let me know what your Country Code and Location are?

Yes, its true, it shows Stockholm,Sweden,Europe

  

But it is a problem for me, because I never been in Sweden, but I am seeing song charts for Sweden and etc. and its not nice. Is it possible to solve it ?

If you are at home, you can disable any VPNs on your network. If you are at work, you will have to contact your supervisor and ask about corporate firewalls/VPNs. I'm afraid there is no way for Spotify to change your location themselves, so you will have to find the source of the miscommunication (likely a network setting or VPN).

 

If you are at home and cannot figure out how to disable VPNs, please let me know and I can provide you with steps to accomplishing this. I will need your Spotify platform (iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, etc.) for this as well.

Yes, I am at work. But its not a solution, because in big company no one will change vpn or provider settings only because there is a problem with spotify. It should be handled by Spotif in nicer way. I am sure that not only I have simillar problem.

I'm afraid there is nothing Spotify can do to change your location 😞 If you purchase Premium, you can change your location to the location of your payment, but I am aware that is not necessarily an easy solution. I'm sorry that I can't be of further help.
