Plan
Free but I'm trying to activate Premium
Country
San Marino
Device
Oppo A96
My Question or Issue
I used to have a student account that then transformed into a normal premium account. I've been living around Europe for the last 7 years and always used Spotify without issues.
Until I came back to San Marino, my home country. I de-activated my premium subscription because I wanted to share the cost of a family account. Unfortunately though when I try to activate the new plan, it says that I'm not in the same country or address of residence of the family, which is not true!!! The country is set to Italy and I can't change it (there are no other options to click on the menu once you click on the country list ) even though I am in San Marino and at the same address as the person holding the family account!
It's getting frustrating and there seems to be no way to solve this issue.
Is there anyway to get Spotify to bypass this malfunction of theirs and let me change country on the app once and for all?
Thanks in advance
Hey @Nello293,
Thanks for reaching out.
Can you please ask the owner of the Premium Family plan which country they've set in their account?
Additionallx, I recommend making sure you don't have any VPN enabled on your device. It's also worth trying it again while using a different internet connection.
Let me know how it goes! 🙂
Their country is set to San Marino because that's where we live, but mine is Italy for some reason and I can't change it.
I tried doing that operation both with VPN on and off, as well as with geolocalisation but it never works
Hello everybody,
How am I supposed to get help from Spotify to solve this if advice from the community doesn't work and Spotify doesn't have a proper costumer service?
Is there a number I can call or is that too old fashioned?
Hey @Nello293,
Thanks for getting back.
Just a heads-up, to change your country settings, you need to be physically located in the country you’re trying to switch to. If you’re not currently in San Marino, the system won’t give you the option to update your country.
If you are in San Marino, try making the change from a different device, like a computer, to see if that helps.
If that doesn’t do the trick, I’d recommend reaching out to the Spotify Support team here. They have the right tools to take a closer look at your account and help you out.
Let me know how it goes! 🙂
Hi, my scenario here is a bit complex. Me and my mom use same spotify and we are both in different country. She's in india and I'm in canada. Payment is done from india but now when I'm in canada it says me to switch to Canadian payment which doesn't sound justified to me. What to do ? My recurring payment is already on in India.
Hey, @tchalamet69,
Note that Spotify is intended for personal use, so sharing the same account with someone else is prohibited. For a trouble-free experience I'd recommend you each use a separate Spotify account with your own login details. You can sign up at https://spotify.com/signup.
