Unwanted email

Hi all, I receive lately email from: no-reply@news.spotifymail.com That someone, who is not a friend of mine, has added new tracks. Is this guinine and can i stop this safely?

My Spotify account is still sending my Facebook friends an email notification when I add a new song. They do not subscribe to my playlist (no one does).

Is anyone going to respond to this issue? Why has this gone ignored for so long? Would you like to see the emails that these people are receiving? I just added a song and two of my Facebook friends contacted me to let me know that they got an email notification about the song I just added.

Can someone at least acknowledge this issue?

The same thing is happening to me! Why are people receiving emails about what I'm adding to my playlists when they're not even subscribed to them? This must be a marketing scheme because nobody on this forum can answer why this is happening. It's the only explanation I can come up with. I know it isn't a "bug", because if it were, the problem would have been fixed already. I'm a software developer and I know how long it takes to fix things like this. It's been four months since this thread was posted, and nobody seems to care. Just give us some kind of answer or time frame of when this is going to be resolved.

All of my friends are receiving email everytime I add a track to a playlist. I think it's deceitful to have this behavior be as an opt-out feature. I can not find how to disable this and now have to disconnect spotify from facebook. Please change this.

In case others missed this like I did...  Here's the only future hope I've found... as of December 28, 2012

If sharing playslists is not important to you, you can disable auto-publishing new playlists... however I have no way to verify if this works.  To do it open the Spotify app > Settings/Preferences > Profile > Publish >  and uncheck "Automatically publish new playlists".  Screenshot: http://cl.ly/image/0O2L001a110Y

Again, not a proper solution... maybe one day.

Who's your Spotify Star?

Thanks, Sam. Which option stops emailing my Facebook friends when I add a track to one of my playlists that they don't subscribe to?

There is no way to stop Spotify from emailing your Facebook friends. It happens on it's own. I'd assume disconnecting your Facebook account from Spotify may stop the emails.

That is true, the only way to stop the emails is for the recipient to opt out of them. You'll have to disconnect from Facebook (or if you signed up with a facebook account, create a new account without FB) to stop the emails

IT DOES NOT WORK!!! I'm from Holland and still, everytime, i get this VERY VERY annoying emails from facebookfriends which kind of music they listen!!!! I changed everything in my profile to: Never/Never/Never!!! And still, the same problem!!! I cannot get in touch with anyone of you guys in Holland!!!! Im happy with spotify, but if this does not change, i quit my premium account!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Hi Jeanlevieux - Most likely you've got a second account (probably linked to your Facebook).

Try signing into your Profile page with your FB email and password. If you're able to log in, you've got two accounts. Just adjust the email notification settings while you're there.

same problem here. think i just quit my premium account.

Hi tonyendre - I can confirm all your email settings are set to 'Never'. I suspect you've got a second account somewhere.

What sort of emails have you been receiving?

Just wanted to let everyone know that Spotify is still emailing my Facebook friends when I add a song to a playlist. Still no response from Spotify!

Yay.

Pavy - If they don't want to receive these emails, they can change their settings inside their account. Alternatively, if you 'unpublish' your playlist or make it 'secret', no-one will receive any updates regarding any changes.

Who's your Spotify Star?

Sam,

Are you saying that Spotify is in fact sending email to the Facebook friends of its subscribers, even when those Facebook friends are not subscribed to the playlist? Can you provide a little more detail on this? Why isn't it made clear that this will happen? Why has no one given an official response to  this entire thread (go back and read it from the beginning)?

I've had half a dozen Facebook friends of mine contact me about receiving email from Spotify when I add a song to a playlist - doesn't that seem intrusive, in your opinion?

How do you make a playlist "secret"? I know how to unpublish one, but I'm not familiar with how to make it "secret".

Spotify, how the h-ll can you think that it's ok to send out emails like this with my username and everything in it? And that from a completely different URL?

I didn't click these setting when I joined, so I shouldn't have to go in and do it now.

Fix it.

Quick update:

- My Facebook friends continue to receive email notifications when I add a song to a playlist

- My Facebook friends continue to complain to me about receiving such unsolicited emails

A quick recap: Spotify sends out email notifications when I add a song to a playlist. These emails are getting sent to my Facebook friends that are *not* subscribed to my playlist.

To my knowledge, there is no way for me to prevent this. Also, Spotify has continued to ignore my request for additional information on this issue. I've even tried opening a support ticket and reporting this to Facebook - same result - I'm simply ignored/dismissed.

Hey 🙂

If your friends do not want to receive such emails then they can turn off Spotify emails by signing into their respective online profiles and selecting "Never" for all the email options.

Getting complaints from friends that they receive SPAM email from Spotify from my account -- read the discussion here, completely flabbergasted by horrible software engineering --> I don't want to explain to everybody I know how to stop this, just don't send any emails unless I really acknowledge that.....how difficult can it be to just not send out any emails...close to cancelling my premium account and hugely disappointed in Spotify.

I just joined and signed up for Premium.  I haven't even gotten to the point of creating playlists yet, but my friends are getting spam mails saying "(Friend) want to hear what (me) has been jamming to?"  That's pretty ridiculous.  What's even crazier is it looks like people have been complaining about this for 6months now in these forums.  Doesn't really seem like spotify cares that much.   I'm totally confused.
