Why did my username change?

 My username changed...

From 'Dominick' it changed to this:

I made my username 'Dominick' I don't know why it is this.. Can someone help me? Also, on this screen it's actually Dominick for some reason

Hey @DankDominick,

Welcome to the community!

Currently, when you sign up Spotify automatically generates a random username, but you're able to choose a profile name.

Usernames and profile names can't be modified; however, other users will be able to find you with the profile name you chose, and the random username won't show up on your Spotify profile.

You're welcome! 

That's correct. Everyone else will see the profile name (Dominick) which you chose during the sign-up process. The random numbers and letters are only visible to you, on your account page.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community about this. 
 

Usernames are created automatically by the system for security reasons. That’s why they consist of random numbers and letters. 

It’s not possible to change your username, but you can create a display name upon registering your Spotify-account. This has the advantage that several users can use the same display name. Usernames on the other hand remain unique.

To set a display name, you can either create a new account, or connect your account with Facebook. This way your Facebook-name will appear as a display name on your Spotify-account.
