In my currenty job most of the internet sites are blocked and just a few sites are whitelisted. One of them is spotify, which I use to listen to music and podcasts. But like every 1 or 2 weeks Spotify keeps resetting my password, even while I am listening to something. I suddenly get logged off and cannot log in, because my password is told to be incorrect. It is really annoying and unnecessary. At this point I cannot even reset my password, because my personal email websites are blocked and I am not allowed to have my phone in the office.
I know the default answer is "it is necessary, suspicious behaviour, everything for your security...) but it does more damage and is more annoying than helpful. Even when I want to reset my password I cannot use the ones I used before, which makes it even worse.
I don't know what kind of connection the company uses that makes it that suspicious, but I have a free account and don't really appreciate this kind of behaviour. I wished this would stop, I have my account since 2010 and never had any complaint until recently
Is there a way to avoid that?
This is very annoying and it is costing you business. I just cancelled my account. I only have the service logged in on my phone and TV. No one else uses my account. You are not protecting national secrets, this is a music streaming service. There is no reason for changing a customers password every 7-14 days. Too much of a hassle. I’ll find something else
This is beyond ridiculous. I pay for Spotify, and you people still punish people for using the Internet safely. The only thing that explains your hatred toward VPN protection is nothing good. Am I wrong? And don't lie with that "security" **bleep**. Be honest. I'm sick and tired of these half-assed responses trying to blame the CUSTOMER for YOUR issues. The only security issue here is Spotify, since constantly requiring people to change their passwords will INEVITABLY result in insecure passwords being used at times, considering that you won't let people reuse their SECURE passwords. This is a circus. This is why physical media will ALWAYS be superior.

False. Your support teams choose not to give the exact reason for why this is happening. All the password reset emails would be less annoying if they at least gave the user (securely, through email) some idea of the reason.

My Question or Issue
Spotify keeps randomly logging me out, then when I try to login, it claims my password is incorrect.
So I go and change it, works fine, until then the next time it happens again.
Again I need to change my password (which is saved in the cloud, so I know it’s correct).
Repeat ad nauseam.
So incredibly frustrated and angry.
Tried speaking to support services, but got nothing but change your password, and a link on how to do it 🤬
Now I can’t even find a way to live chat.
I really hate this so called support and help (lack of) service.
I've been experiencing the same issue for the past few months. Yes, I’m using a VPN, and my browser clears all data upon closing—both of which are basic security practices. However, Spotify is the only service where my password gets reset automatically every two weeks. It’s always the same: "Please reset your password." This is incredibly frustrating. I don’t have these problems with Amazon Music, YouTube or Soundcloud.
I went to log out again, and the password didn't work; I was online. What's the point of buying a subscription if it doesn't work?

the mods just left so i dont tink they're going to solve it.
Im switching, and you should too.
this is really getting crazily annoying. I have to relogin on all my devices every time I'm adding a device? Are you serious? I absolutely agree. Fix your broken "suspicious activity" detection. It is worse than anything. And atleast instead of directly changing the password via mail, ASK via mail if it was me, so I can press yes or no...
IT HAPPENS 20 TIMES A DAY YOU THINK I'M JOKING BUT I'M NOT I HAVE TO RESET MY PASSWORD I DO MY EVERY TIME BUT NO I HAVE TO RESET IT AND I HATE IT IT'S LIKE SPOTIFY WANT ME TO DO IT I COPEY AND PAST GET MY MUM AND DAD BUT NOTHING I HAVE TOO RESET
