If you started your Spotify account by linking it with Facebook, then it will require you to log in through Facebook until you go to spotify.com and log in through Facebook one more time, so that you may access your account information, from there you can change your contact email, password, and other information as you please. Adding a contact email if it's missing and changing the password (even if it's the same or differenct as your Facebook email and password) should allow you to log in to through the app from then on.
If you have not linked a Facebook account, then you must have Spotify email you to change your password because either your account was accessed and changed by someone else, or there is a technical error with Spotify (such as their password requirements changing and your's no longer fitting it, or something). Regardless, the password change should fix it.

Try visiting https://www.spotify.com/us/account/overview/ (if you're unsure of your username) after logging in through Facebook and log in with your username instead of your email.
