My Question or Issue

Oracular Spectacular will not be available to play on launching the app. I stay offline as often as I can because I don't like smart shuffle and most other online features. Just here for the music.

But each time I open the app I need to go online again and let that 1 album re-download otherwise it will not be available on any of my big playlists. It's only those songs affected. All other music is completely fine. Any clue?  I've deleted and re downloaded my entire library. Unchecked spotify from all power saving features I could find. Deleted and re-downloaded the album. I'm at a loss.

Hi there @Dyltodd98,

Thanks for reaching out!

We weren't able to reproduce the issue with the album you mentioned, so we want to rule out some potential causes. Certain system-level optimizations can silently wipe Spotify’s cached downloads when the app is closed, so it'd be great if you can check the following:

  • Go to Settings → Apps → Spotify → Battery / App usage → Disable things like “Remove permissions if app unused” and “Pause app activity if unused”
  • Search in your device's settings for options like “Suspend cached apps” / “Smart cleanup” / “Auto optimization” and disable them (or exclude Spotify)

In order to check if this might be tied to the songs in question, it's worth creating a test playlist and adding the album there, then downloading the playlist instead of the album.

Keep us posted.

Hi! Thank's for the reply This hasn't helped unfortunately, I've done
exactly as you said. Found a developer option and unchecked it, it also
rebooted my phone.
I also made a new playlist and still the same result
Those specific songs will not play/ remain downloaded.

All my other music works as expected. It's whenever the app is closed, or
if the app needs to reload that it wipes them from the phone.

Best wishes,
Dylan

Hi again, @Dyltodd98

Thanks for keeping in contact!

Try using a different internet connection when downloading the album (another Wi-Fi network, mobile data or a mobile hotspot), then close the app and check after a while if the issue persists.

Make sure your device has enough free space to store all the downloads and check if Spotify has all the permissions needed (including the permission to work in the background). If that doesn't do the trick, you can reset your network settings to see if it makes a change.

Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes!
