Unfortunately, Spotify support was not able to recognize from the beginning that my problem is related to the known Android 11 (write permissions external storage) and am a bit frustrated because of that.
Regrettably, Spotify is not working on a solution either, relying on Google updates for more than 2 years. Technically, it is possible to solve the problem, as many other applications also have write permissions on the SD card on Android 11. Even installing applications on the external storage is possible.

Since Spotify is not able to meet the full scope and especially the offline support I wanted for my external storage on Android 11 of the Premium Abonemos. I will unfortunately have to cancel my Premium Membership.

I was only geilt with, I should inform me here in the future, whether there is already a solution from Google for this problem. I must confess that my time is too precious to make me dependent on it for more years to deal with it, which is probably futile.

PROBLEM:

Hey @leminsc8,

Thanks for posting in the Community!
If in your app you go to Settings -> Storage, could you let us know if you can see & select your external SD card?
A screenshot would also be helpful 🙂
(you may also power down your device, connect your external sd card & power it back on, so the app boots with all storage locations available)

Let us know how it goes!
Cheers!

Screenshot_20221004-220956_Spotify.jpg: Storage-Menü is frozen. I can't change anything. Into Spotify, all Playlists are Lost and Spotify is not showing last playing song. Nothing work in Spotify.

Hey @leminsc8,

Thanks for sending over the screenshots.

Would it be possible to try with a different SD card to check and see if the issue persists?

Looking forward to your reply.

Take care,

Does not run with sandisk 32GB.  Other Apps using SD-Card is ok. Other Apps from SDKard is ok. Internet is ok.

Same Problem like 256GB.

Hey @leminsc8,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

We can see on the previous screenshots you sent that the SD card name is listed a couple times. This has been investigated by the relevant team recently. In order to cover all the basics, would you mind trying to select one of the other SD card options you have listed to see if it makes any difference?

Also, to continue investigating your case, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running.

We'll be on the lookout.

Spotfiy version: 8.7.72.546

The stroage listed (22.6GB and 22.7GB) are not external-SD-cards, but virtual SD-cards. They are the internal memory of the smartphone. However, my wish is to select an external-SD-card (256GB), but I'm sure they already know all that.

After I select an external-SD-card and the error persists, the menu is frozen (grayed out) and I can't select another one.

However, as long as the external-SD-card is removed and the system is restarted, it is possible to use the virtual SD cards (22.6GB and 22.7GB) of the system/smartphone - So yes, Spotify offline and storage respectively works with the internal storage.

Original message (DE):

Spotfiy Version: 8.7.72.546

Hi @leminsc8!

Could you try the following:

  1. Insert your 256 GB SD card into your phone.
  2. Clear Spotify's cache and data from your phone's Settings > Apps > Spotify, then uninstall the app.
  3. Remove your SD card, reinstall Spotify, then reinsert your SD card.

Let us know how it goes. Cheers!
