I think you should be able to control the volume from your phone while connected to another device because you have to control the volume from whatever is playing the music

Thanks for reaching out in the Community about this.

We apologize for the delayed reply, we just came across this Idea and have moved it to the Help Boards where it will get more traction.

When connected to a Bluetooth device and playing music from Spotify, you should be able to control the volume from your phone. Note that Bluetooth or Spotify app permissions could be blocking this, so you can go to your phone's settings and give the Spotify app and Bluetooth all permissions.
