Android Preview - No Album Art

Hi All.

I've just installed the new Android Preview on my Motorola Atrix - which is running ICS.

No problems downloading or installing. Everything works fine and looks great.

Just one problem: there is no Album or Artist Art. Just the generic placeholder - like you would expect while you're waiting for the pictures to appear. Only it never does.

I know this is just a preview and things may not be perfect yet but I can't find any other mention of this problem on this forum so I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this or has a solution?

It's most definitely a rom issue. I'm running jokersax's ICS rom for the Atrix and I have no pictures whatsoever in the Spotify App.

Might be a driver issue, the same ( ? ) that makes the browser crash when you switch into landscape mode.

I am facing a problem with the new version of the app (also had it on the preview of the new version).
There is no album art and pictures been showed.
The old version did not have that problem.

Installing, reinstalling... erasing datas. None of those solutions have been efficient. Still got no pics.

I am running currently on nand Rom Paranoid Android 1.2a, not a manufacturer firmware on a HTC HD2.

I would be grateful if you can give us a hand solving this problem.
I am also using Deezer app with which I do no have this issue.

Thanks for getting in touch. We're sorry that you've had this problem with your Spotify app.

We've been working on fixing this and if you're still experiencing this issue, could you install the latest version of the Android app.

It should now be working, with the update.

I agree with you. Nothing happens, no album art appears. I update my app a few minutes ago and it seams nothing changed.

I don't know what happened, but this morning, I launched the app to listen to "hail to the thief" of Radiohead which I added to my playlists the day before, and which I uploaded on my HD2 this morning; and against all odds, the colourful cover appeared!

I switched to another Rom last thursday, but I do not think this has anything to do with the fact that it is working now.

I will try further on my way back home.

Just tried. Unfortunately my album art hasn't sprung in to life. Still just the grey disk placeholder.

Interestingly, I rooted and installed a new ICS ROM on my Motorola Xoom yesterday and the Spotify app works perfectly. Album art and all.

Back to the head scratching and constant reinstalling!

For the same phone model running the same OS, apparently, some apps may be working on one serie but not on the other...
Quite tricky for the programmers to identify the origin of the problem.
So, based on our experience, it may be ROM related...

I wrote a second mail to the support:

Thank you for your answer.

Unfortunately, the update of the app did not solve the problem: there are still no cover/album arts and photograph shown on the Rom I am currently using : PARANOIDANDROID HD2 [v1.5a][TABLET/HYBRID][CM9][A2SD][tytung_HWA_r3]

However, I installed another Rom as a test : AOKP LEO BUILD 39 [WIP][HWA][A2SD][4.0.4][tytung_HWA_r3]. And this one did work... But as the Rom itself is unstable on my phone, I had to go back to the Paranoid Android Rom.
Except from spotify, I have absolutely no problems with this Rom. Pictures are being shown, etc...

We and the other guys concerned would be grateful if you can identify the problem.

While its a pain not being able to see album art, you can't expect them to specifically work to support every single ROM available ... if its a feature that works in most ROMS (and almost all, if not all) official ROMs, then the ROM(s) it doesn't work in much have an issue. Perhaps you should post on the boards relevant to the ROM in question - those guys are a lot more speedy at finding and fixing issues than Spotify would be anyway

I understand your point but if you do not ask, you do not get...

Maybe some things may be easy to solve once you point them clearly out.

I have been trying to find a solution on the french forum which "comments" the Roms which are edited on the XDA site.

But they could not help further.

To edit on the dev part of XDA, you have to post 10 useful comments on the "general" part of the site... so I cannot expose my problem to the one who could solve the problem. 

So I am stuck.

I also have this issue, searched google when this app was just preview and it seemed like I was the only one.

Anyway, I have Motorola photon with jokersax cm9 android version 4.0.4. And there is no art, i tried all the usual things like everyone else, no fix.

Works perfectly on my transformer tf101 same android version, and it is a custom rom. I love it with album art! I just hope someone comes up with a fix.

And indeed album art is essential.

I think the problem is so specific that it will not be solved.

I am disapointed and not optimistic.

Hi xfaceme. From.previous pages in this thread the issue seemed to be possibly related to ROM versions. Spotify can't support every custom ROM out there - are you able to try a different one?

I don't know how it worked now, but saw there was an update for the ROM to V 2.8 today and installed that, now I'm seeing the artworks. Don't know how long that will last. 😄

I tried many different roms, but this problem appear only at ICS ROMs. Gingerbread and JB ROMs work fine. That's weird.

It is clearly ROM dependent...

I am a happy user now... and it changes the experience tremendously.

Using currently PACMAN 1.2a from xylograph for Htc HD2.

Now I updated my ROM from Nexus NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.5 to NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.8 and in this ROM the album art in Spotify works again. 

I'm happy!!
