Android assistant commands

Hi,

I'm trying to understand how how to use vocie controls via google assistant with Spotify.

I've connected it to google home and Google assitant so thats all working fine. I'm just not sure what commands I can actually use. The instructions on this site just say

"Ask Google Assistant to play music (“Ok Google, play Spotify”)."

But I think there's more to it than that. So far...

I can ask for a particular song, artist or genre.

"Ok google play music" will play the last thing playing.

"Ok google, play my playlist" will play my liked music.

I haven't found a way to ask for a particular one of my playlists yet.

And I can ask it to "shuffle" my playlists, which will make it play my "liked" songs in a random order, but, it will always start from the first ong in the the list (then continue randomly) which is wierd.

Is there anything I'm missing?

To request other playlists using the Google assistant you can say,

"Hey Google, play the {name of playlist} playlist on Spotify".

For example, "Hey Google, play the 80's Retro Mix playlist on Spotify" and boom, that should work (at least it's been working for me).

Hey @tmcthree,

Thanks for getting in touch!

Once you’ve linked your Spotify account to Google Home, you can ask it to play your favorite music

Just say, "OK Google", then...

  • “Play my Discover Weekly on Spotify”.
  • “Turn up the volume on Spotify”.
  • “Play some rock music on Spotify”.
  • “Pause this song on Spotify”.

Check out more voice commands on the Google Home support site. Hope this helps.
