My Question or Issue

When opening the app, the home section does not load at all. My library takes about 10minutes to load, and even then not all playlists load. When playing any playlist, there is lag between playing and the music starting. Likewise, the pause button does not respond until a minute after pressed. The music continues even after all apps are manually closed on the phone.

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared cache, force stopped the app, installed a previous version, restarted phone and none of these have made any difference.

I should add - this happens on WiFi and data so the WiFi isn't the issue. Other apps all work completely fine on the connection. It's been happening for ~12 hours and the app was fine yesterday. It seems to have happened since the phone updated to use Galaxy One UI 7

Hey folks,

Glad to hear the issue's been resolved for most!

@Bkircher1, just to confirm, is 9.0.84 the version you're having issues with? If so, a newer one should be out now, could you try updating the app to see if that does the trick?

Should the issue persist, could you let us know if the app eventually crashes and the Spotify process is terminated, or if the app just keeps loading endlessly?

In addition to the troubleshooting steps from @Joan's post above, something else you can try is disabling IPv6 for your network/device. If you're using mobile data, you can do this by changing the APN Protocol:

  1. Search for Access Point Names in your phone's settings (the option is usually found in Network & Internet > Mobile network, but its location may vary depending on your manufacturer).
  2. Select your current access point and set the APN Protocol to either just IPv4 or IPv4/IPv6.

Hope this helps!

Hey there @Bkircher1

Thanks for getting back to us.

If you have already tried all the troubleshooting steps @Joan mentioned here, make sure to send us all the info he asked for. We'll take a closer look.

Cheers!

why am i paying you again?

fix this already, i have my samsung galaxy watch 3 for 2 months and this trash app is still broken stuck in the same connecting loop from this old post, i guess i use yt music instead

I have the same issue on my Samsung Galaxy S23 and I have tried everything mentioned in this topic except factory reset to fix it. Nothing helps.

What I've tried:

- clear cache many times

- clear data

- uninstalled multiple times

- checked android data folder if Spotify data is gone

- re-installed multiple times, from Galaxy Store and Play Store

- changed APN settings to use ipv4 only

- tried both wifi and 5G

It was very slow when adding podcast episodes from "Your Episodes" to my queue and downloading them for many months, maybe even a year.

Since today nothing loads anymore and I cannot even play an episode.

I also logged in on a Pixel 7 and an iPhone 13 Pro and have the same issues on those phones. On the iPhone it did play the episode at some point, but didn't respond to pressing pause and I had to kill the app to make it stop playing.

Only on Spotify Desktop (Ubuntu, installed via snap) it works fine.

It is only happening on my MacBook Pro with macOS Monterey 12.5.  Tried all the suggestions and nothing working.  It's worked perfectly for years.  Getting ready to close account as nothing I try works and no access to actual customer support.

Hey folks,

As the original issue in this thread has been resolved and it is now gathering seemingly similar issues that are different and require an individual approach, we'll be closing this thread.

If anyone is still experiencing this behaviour of the mobile app constantly loading, make sure to go over all the steps mentioned in the marked solution. In case nothing helps, please open a new thread in the relevant Help board.

Cheers!

My Question or Issue

Hello, I am experiencing a persistent UI bug exclusively with the Android app on my Samsung S24+. The issue mainly affects podcasts:

When I try to view the podcasts I follow, the screen gets a darkened overlay, looking like it is offline or stuck in an endless loading state.

When I open a specific podcast page (as seen in my attachments), the episode list is completely blank/empty.

The Android notification playback bar is glitched and does not show any controls (play/pause buttons are missing).

Troubleshooting already done (None of these worked):

Cleared app cache and data.

Completely uninstalled and reinstalled the app.

Tested with and without a VPN.

Changed Private DNS settings.

Turned off "Canvas" and set podcasts to "Audio-only".

Crucial detail:

Everything works flawlessly if I access Spotify via the Web Player on my mobile browser using the exact same 5G connection. This proves my account and network are fine, and the issue is completely isolated to a bug in this specific version of the Android app rendering the UI.

I have attached screenshots showing the dark screen, the empty episode list, the broken notification bar, and the web player working perfectly. Is there a known fix for this or is a patch coming soon?

I had a similar problem where my play button wouldn´t respond. But all I had to do was restart cause my device needed an update.

My Question or Issue

First off, no this is not a dupe, none of the other solved posts were helpful.

The Android Spotify App is completely unusable because it laggs like 24/7, crashes the app, freezes the app. This only happens in Spotify itself, no other app or UI element laggs. Sometimes it just tells me I'm not a premium user and then I need to restart the app. This doesn't just specify to WiFi or Mobile Data, it happens with both.

I believe this to happen since Update to Android 16.

What I tried:

- Updating and completely reinstalling the app. Multiple times

- Clearing Cache inside Spotify App and inside the App Info Page of Spotify.

- Force quit

- Try another APK for Spotify.

- Gave all the permissions and no battery performance setting is enabled for spotify.

I am almost 100% positive this is a Bug and not User Error. If I'm wrong, please tell me how.
