App not working/ constantly loading

My Question or Issue

When opening the app, the home section does not load at all. My library takes about 10minutes to load, and even then not all playlists load. When playing any playlist, there is lag between playing and the music starting. Likewise, the pause button does not respond until a minute after pressed. The music continues even after all apps are manually closed on the phone.

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared cache, force stopped the app, installed a previous version, restarted phone and none of these have made any difference.

I should add - this happens on WiFi and data so the WiFi isn't the issue. Other apps all work completely fine on the connection. It's been happening for ~12 hours and the app was fine yesterday. It seems to have happened since the phone updated to use Galaxy One UI 7

I am also having the same exact problem on a Google pixel 6, and have been for about a year now. However, it only occurs when I am in a specific location, at my university. When I am on the other end of campus, out in the city, or back home, it works completely fine, but specifically in this one location less than a square mile I have the same problem discussed above. Would love to get it fixed as it is extremely annoying.

I also began having the problem with a pixel 3a, and it has continued with my newer phone

My Question or Issue

Over the past couple months spotify has almost been completely un-usable. Wont load, won't play songs, won't let me save to a play list, won't play through andriod auto. Every thing. I've tried almost everything to fix this from reinstalling the app, clear the cache/cookies. Restart the phone. Restart the app. I've reset my phone too. You mention a fix I've tried it. The only real fix I've found is going into the settings. Turning off off-line mode (which deletes all of my saved music) then turning it back on. Which can sometimes, real emphasis on SOMETIMES. This is getting out of hand. I've got no idea if it will work or not. Its probably about 75% of the time it just doesnt work. So I got annoyed. Swapped phones to a samsung Galaxy s25 ultra to see if it's the device. Yet, still the issue is there. It works on iPhone to my knowledge without issue as my partner has one and hasn't had a problem. I cant justify buying another phone just to use spotify, especially if it means I've gotta buy a type of phone I dont even like. Nothing seems to fix these issues and it's becoming unreasonable to continue using spotify

Also having the same issue, Samsung Galaxy Flip6. Tried every "solution" out there. It crashes like this the most when using Android Auto but not exclusively. Android Auto plays YTMusic and other apps seamlessly, yet Spotify is always not loading or just crashes when I'm mid drive, causing my android auto to also crash, meaning I have to literally pull over in my car to fix it.

It's ridiculous, it's 100% a Spotify app issue and NOTHING ELSE. I was holding back paying for premium until it was fixed but the money came out this morning and I'm fuming.

I have the exact same issue on the Galaxy Flip 6...

Super annoying.

Sometimes it works randomly for like 2 albums and it's the same again...

I'm also thinking about canceling my premium because why would I pay it if I'm not able to use the service...

Yup same. It's atrocious. Suspicious of how many of us have Samsung too. My Desktop app works perfectly fine too so it's 100% the Android app and seemingly the latest one for Samsung. Spotify are doing nothing about it by the looks of it

Marked as solution

Hi there @kkbean@Kaelen_L@53j8k_3r-62vq@Scorbunnie and everyone else,

Thanks for all the replies and the information.

We've had our eye on this thread for a while and our investigation shows that the original issue reported back in May relating to the Galaxy S22 should be resolved. We of course acknowledge your new reports, but these relate to different devices and configurations, so we haven't been able to get our finger on it and find a consistent root cause for this so far.

We recommend trying the following steps if you haven't already to try and solve this and narrow down what might be causing it:

  • A full clean reinstall
  • Turn off battery optimization or at least exclude Spotify from it.
  • Try different networks, both mobile data and Wi-Fi. Disable any VPNs you might be using.
  • Connect the power cable to the phone in order to initiate charging and see if the app would behave any differently
  • See if changing your phone's settings as described here would help out
  • Factory reset your device (last ditch effort, we understand if you don't want to go through with this one)

If you've tried these and it hasn't resolved the issue, please confirm you've done so and provide us with the following details so that we can investigate further:

  • Is this on all devices or only on specific one(s)?
  • When did this start happening?
  • Does it happen at any time, sporadically or only in specific configurations such as when listening in the car or via Connect?
  • The exact makes, models and OS versions of all your affected devices
  • The exact Spotify Versions you use.
  • Screenshots or a video of the behaviour. If the files are too large to attach here in the Community, you can send them to us via Google Drive or as unlisted YouTube videos.

Hope this helps. We'll be keeping an eye out for any future replies.

Cheers!
