App update - Can't sort artists alphabetically?

Solved!

App update - Can't sort artists alphabetically?

The App updated this morning and now my artists page is sorted by last played so I can't find anything unless I scroll through the whole list. Can I change this so it sorts them alphabetically so I can actually find what I want quickly?

Not a fan of this update.

Hi,

I'm on android and can sort by artist name.

Did you know you can just swipe down to get the search and filter menu and then choose order by name in the filter menu.

Not sure what platform you are using.

Regards,

René

It only shows artists alphabetically that you're following, not those you have a few songs or albums saved...

Ok, clear but this is not the issue in this topic. You should create a new topic or vote for any ideas concerning the topic of library changes.

Some background, spotify changed the library concept, songs, albums and artists are no longer related in the library. The list of artists are the artists that you are following, not the artists of which you have liked song. So it's impossible to sort on this now on any other way than the artist name.

What you are actually saying is that the artist list should not show the list of artists you are following but the artists of which you have like songs or saved albums.

A lot of users don't like this change and added new ideas to improve

Regards,

René

Yeah, thanks for your input.

What would have been a reasonable change was to allow people to sort by:

- Only artists they follow

- Only artists they have songs/albums they've liked

- Or both

but instead:

Ok, now I see, I think it's a perfect new idea for which I will vote. This does especially make sense since this topic is closed.

I propose to add a new idea: include artists with liked songs or saved albums in library.

Next explain that you can sort on: followed artists, artists with liked songs, artists with saved albums or all.

René

I'm waiting to see if spotify actually takes these thousands of negative
comments into account and update their application accordingly.

Also wondering if they'll ignore thousands upon thousands of
previously-satisfied customers. They'll lose this loyal customer base to
another company... it's too bad.

I just turned OFF all my Notification options in the Android app so I can start "following" new artists and get back to digging into some of the several hundred in my Liked Songs playlist.

Part of the previous joy of Spotify was the Recently Listened option and being able to go back and find an interesting artist and listen to more of their portfolio.   I don't think it is the same now.  I feel kind of lost.

wow, if Spotify considers this "solved", then I'm deeply disappointed. A totally disorienting move, this part of the update. Horrible.

We all use the alphabet daily, something we learned in first grade. For some reason Spotify took the basic use of this knowledge out of the app when it comes to sorting artist.  It leaves be scratching my head. Never was a fan of the spotify app anyways and now it's even worse. Who makes these decisions?

Am i allowed to say here that the person who designed this feature is a dumb thing that rhymes with stunt?

I'm done, my premium account is now cancelled.

Have subscribed to Apple Music instead, took a long time to set up all of my collection again but it's done now.

Farewell Spotify, it was great until your developers **bleep** it up.

Your suggestion does not work.  I have the option of listing artists by "name" or "recently added"  Neither option work.

First post here, after I discovered I could no longer sort artists in any sort of meaningful way. Learned pretty quickly that this was a PLANNED change. Absolutely ridiculous. Why would I continue to pay for this service? Oh I can FOLLOW every artist just so them I can sort them alphabetically? I never follow artists and it's time to move on from Spotify. It never ceases to amaze me how frequently companies like Spotify fail to listen to their user base before making changes like this. The good news is that there are plenty of competitors in this business we will just find one that provides the features that we need.

Let's make a list here of all the competition apps so we can compare them.

Hey folks,

Thanks for bringing your feedback here - we appreciate it.

@Moderator - Was this a rethorical question?

This whole thread is a cry for change!

We are discussing the program.  Maybe if you paid more attention to what your customers are saying, they wouldn't have to express their frustration on this forum.  There must be a financial reason for you to make this change....but will it be worth it if you lose all your customers.  Do Not Forget.....there are many more avenues available to your customers to express our dissatisfaction then just this forum.

I have asked this question on Reddit.  Once weather turns bad for the winter and i have the extra time to d/l from another music service I will be cancelling my premium account here and move on. This is really bugging me and refuse to pay for a crappy UI. I think Spotify made this move on purpose in hopes their user start following artist.

This thread is not about "personal matters", this is about features in Spotify that have been removed in a recent release. The features included the ability to sort and manage the end product that we are paying for (the music) in an efficient and useful manner. Requiring users to "follow" artists, just to enable the ability to properly sort music was a bad decision - as is obvious from reading all the complaints here, and on other Internet forums. Since I have zero interst in following artists, this effectively breaks the software for me. I am certain there was a good reason to try "encouraging" users to follow artists, but that reason had nothing to do with improving the user experience.

This is a horrible dumb change
