My Question or Issue

I've been using your app for 2 years with no issues until this weekend. The audio cuts out at random intervals but it shows on screen that it is still playing. It happens with Bluetooth headphones, Bluetooth to the car, and the phones speaker. Other apps don't cut out at all. I've cleared cache, reinstalled the app, changed power settings, logged out and logged back in, unoptimized the app. I don't know what else to do and I'm at my wits end. Please fix the app. I've also asked a few people I know that use Spotify if it is happening to them as well and it is.

Experiencinh this with S22 plus and a number of car audio systems. Specifically pioneer devices. Sadly they do not have aux and USB is only for files since this is a Bluetooth device. Double DIN

I have a zflip and this keeps cutting off the music randomly. I have full network service and still cuts out. Please assist or I am canceling my service

Hey folks,

For anyone still experiencing this, please reach out to your phone's manufacturer and ask for a detailed guide on how to disable all battery optimizing services that might be affecting the Spotify app.

Let us know how it goes.

My songs keep cutting off . Then I have to start the song all over again. This is super annoying, especially for a service I'm paying for. I've checked the forum and can't seen to find a solution other than clear the cache,  or folks inquiring about what type of device being used. Please provide some tangible assistance for why this is happening. At this point I amthinking about changing to SiriusXM. 😔🤦🏾‍♀️

My Question or Issue

When the song ends and goes to ay next song, audio completely goes off but continues as if its playing. I have to manually move song along and audio comes back on, or skip one ir 2 songs and then audio works again.
This is on android, been happening for weeks now. I have uninstalled and installed again to no avail. Continues to happen, has nothing to do with my earphones as I've tried different ones.

I gave the dame phone and the same issue, I even tried to completly delete everything on my phone, like a total reset, it played for 40 minutes and then, same issue again... it's so annoying, it doesn't do that with my older phone, a Sony Xperia

I feel the same way about canceling my service because of this issue.

I have done this, and don't have the battery optimizing feature on for spotify.  I am still having issues with my subs cutting off. Please fix or it is not worth it to have the service.

Alright community,

I was one of thr folks complaining about the songs cutting out. Yesterday I un- installed the app and re-installed. I haven't had any problems since.  And normally I'd have about 50 issues a day.  So give that a try.  I hope it works for you.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. That seems to have solved my problem 🤞🏾

This is so frustrating. All other apps play audio through Bluetooth, but Spotify just cuts out for no reason, and still shows that its playing.

Hi there folks,

Thank you all for posting here.

Firstly, could you all please try performing a reinstall as mentioned by @WattsNatural and see if that resolves the issue for you? If it persists, please send us the following info:

  • The exact makes and models of all your affected devices
  • The exact OS Versions of those devices
  • The exact Spotify Versions you use.

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate further.

Keep us posted.

Hi,

I tried signing out and signing back in again, then tried a complete uninstall and reinstall of the Spotify app but this issue still persists for me.

Affected device: Pixel 6 Pro
Android version: 14
Spotify version: 8.8.96.364
I can describe in a little more detail the experience for me. I will be listening to music/podcasts through Spotify, sometimes playing out loud through my phone, sometimes through bluetooth earphones, and the audio suddenly just cuts out. There's no consistent time interval after which this happens, and I've tried waiting a long time and the audio never restores itself without action (more on that later), it just stops making sound. However, the pinned Spotify notification suggests that the track is still playing i.e. the displayed play/pause button shows the pause icon, the wavy progress bar indicating the progress through the track is still wavy, and the progress bar continues to progress as if the track were playing.
I've found that when I tap the "pause" button in the pinned notification, the progress bar jumps backwards to where it would be at the time of the audio cut out (which suggests there's something somewhere that knows the audio stopped at that point?), and then when I press "play" again it resumes as expected, from the point at which the audio cut out. But then it can cut out again sometimes, it's not like a one time thing that's then fixed. The experience just in terms of the audio is as if I'm listening to something, and then somebody else has paused it, and I have to get my phone out to also "pause" it (because notification shows it as still playing) and then I play it again to get it going again.
This "reset" by pausing and playing again also works if I close/shut down the Spotify app and then restart it, and it also seems to work if I switch to some other app that uses audio in some capacity (which would normally pause my Spotify track to play the audio from e.g. a video feed) and then switch back again to Spotify to play again.
Final thing to say is that this has happened to me with all kinds of battery levels, it's not as though it only happens in battery saver mode for example. Hopefully that all helps and hope you can resolve it ASAP as it's pretty annoying, especially if listening on headphones with my phone out of arm's reach.

Please add me to this list for cutting off while playing from my phone/Android/SS Flip5 to my BT car audio system. I also happened recently while using on a BT speaker at my daughter's home. Most times it stops during a song, push play and it starts the same song at the beginning. I can FF to the next song and continue for a period of time before it happens again. Other times it make stop after a brief replay period. I wondered about cell signal but concluded it was happening in good reception areas. I also wondered if there was some phone setting that I've overlooked?? Any ideas would be appreciated. It is a very annoying problem.

Same here mine happens on my desktop computer running windows 11

My Question or Issue

Min Spotify stopper med at afspille musik/podcast efter 5-10 minutter.

Har ikke aktiveret sleep timer.

Hello I found the solution.

All that **bleep** doesn't work, because I tried all that, of course, first thing!

Anybody remember when Variable Bit Rate MP3's had just come out, and people started getting mp3 CD players in their car's? A lot of them seemed to work really crappy, but the issue was that they simply couldn't handle all the work of decoding variable bit versus constant bit rates. This is a similar issue. All the extra "normalization," "automatic bandwidth adjustments," etc is hogging all the resources, and I wonder if the system isn't doing something to slow down the processor purposely. There are simply too many tasks going on. We all know Spotify is coded pretty crappy, but you can't beat the autoplay selection... What you gonna do, listen to Pandora?! Please. So

  1. turn off all the extras,
  2. go with NO automatic anything, even shut off the auto play.
  3. If you need your automatic features back, turn them on one at a time until you have a problem, (and then you will know which feature is precipitating the event).

almost any bluetooth device i pair to, the sound just randomly cuts out every so often. sometimes it'll be really bad where the cut out happens for 10-15 seconds at a time, or the frequency of the cut out will be every second. i've tested it on multiple devices just to make sure that it's not the bluetooth device issue.
