My Question or Issue

My phone's Spotify app won't play music via Bluetooth normally anymore. I always listen to music using my wireless headphones, specially now that I'm lacking a pair earphones for the time being. Suddenly, there's a stutter on the Bluetooth audio stream, and every song's audio will be irregularly stuttering in the interval of a few seconds or minutes, if I'm holding my phone or even just laying in bed with my phone lying besides me. The only way it might NOT get any interference is if I stay sitting perfectly still with my phone laying in front of me, for the duration of a whole song. I tested songs and videos on other apps, they all play fine and without stuttering regardless of the distance or if I'm holding the phone with my hands or not. Headphones's wireless connection is also working perfectly on PC and Spotify PC. Already cleared cache from the Spotify app, didn't work. Checked for updates, it's updated. All that's left for me to try is to reinstall Spotify in a vain attempt to fix this while having to redownload nearly 4000 songs, without knowing if my old SD Card's writing limit will handle it. Is there any way I can solve this issue?

Good day @sulfurico_one

Now I've had similar issues myself in the past couple of days and I've made an inquiry into it.

But in the meantime, I've found something of a workaround. I noticed that the stuttering occurs when my mobile data/wifi is disturbed or unstable, like the app is rapidly moving from online to offline and vice versa.

And so since I have most of my playlists downloaded, I just switch off the internet connection and listen offline until I have better connectivity.

I understand this may not be helpful to everyone, but in the meantime...

Good luck and take care 😄

Hi! I was experiencing the exact same issue, and many of the observations you made were spot on so hopefully this is helpful: I seem to have fixed the issue by going into Settings > Apps > Google Play Services and then toggled "Draw over other apps" to "no". Before that I checked my Bluetooth Activity log and saw that Google Play Services had connected to Bluetooth at the same time I was using Spotify. So likely this was the issue! I hope this helps.

Same issue happened to me i tried this but it didnt work any ither ideas

Hey @Gabyc19,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community!

Does this only happen when you have a Bluetooth device connected to your phone? Can you check if the issue persists with a different device, for example a PC?

I've checked some similar threads and it seems that changing the Bluetooth AVRCP settings fixed the issue for a lot of users so you can also give it a try if you want:

  1. Go to your device's settings
  2. Tap "About device" or "About phone"
  3. Tap "Software information"
  4. Tap “Build number” seven times or until you see "Developer mode has already been turned on" or something similar. If you go back to Settings you should be able to see "Developer options" under "About phone".

Note: You might also need to enter your pattern, PIN or password to enable the Developer options menu.

Once that's done, go into "Developer options" and scroll down until you see Bluetooth AVRCP Version, click on it, change it to 1.3, exit Settings and reboot your phone.

Let us know how it goes.
