My Question or Issue

The autoplay feature in the app does not seem to work. 

I tried,

- enabling/disabling the autoplay option in settings

- restart phone, force stop app and relaunch

- turn repeat off, turned shuffle on or off

- tested on both WiFi and mobile network

 

None of the above attempts had autoplay working. It plays all my songs in a 3 song playlist and just stops at the end. This is fairly annoying.

 

An observation I have made is that if I play the last song on the playlist and drag the progress bar to close to the end, autoplay will kick in and play a new song after the current song ends. From this observation I'm suspecting that autoplay does not work when the app is playing in the background. Maybe it has to do with the battery optimization or Spotify's background process handler, but more needs to be tested. I can see this may mean some ppl will have autoplay work intermittently, but that's still a problem.

 

I checked some prior posts in the community (from last year), most of them are marked as resolved but some replies shows problems persists.

Any thoughts on fixes? Does anyone know if Spotify is aware of the issue with autoplay?
