My Question or Issue

I have been using Spotify for years, enjoying tunes on both Bluetooth and wireless. Suddenly, one day, I go to play it on my Bluetooth headphones, it says it's connected to my device, but the noise comes out of the phone speaker. I play YouTube on my Bluetooth headphones, and it works like normal.

What's going on here?

Hey @Quackifier, welcome to the Spotify Community! 🎵

Try the following steps:

  1. Open your Bluetooth devices list.
  2. Remove the headphones (not disconnect, but forget the device).
  3. Re-connect the headphones while Spotify is playing on the phone, and it should switch to the headphones automatically.
  4. Samsung Galaxy phones have a feature called "Separate App Sound" that lets you set different output devices for different apps. Make sure to turn it off or remove Spotify from the enabled devices. You should be able to find it under sound settings.

Let me know how it goes. 🙂

Hello Amay,

I unpaired (removed them from my bluetooth list) my headphones while playing music (spotify was saying it's connected to the headphones but playing out the phone speaker) and when I reconnected, the music paused for a split second before continuing to play on my phone. Keep in mind it's not just my headphones that spotify won't play on. Its any bluetooth device: speaker, car, earpods ect.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply @Quackifier. Were you able to find Spotify under the separate app sound feature?

Thanks a ton for all the help! I just wanted to quickly say again, THANK YOU!! It’s working perfectly now. It must have somehow turned on under the separate app sound feature as I don’t recall ever selecting that option.

Absolute lifesaver

Ah, it happens. Glad to know it is working now @Quackifier ✌️
