My Question or Issue

It has definitely happened in the past randomly but today it happened twice in the spam of two hours.

I opened my Spotify and my Player (that seats in the bottom of the app, when you scroll to find something) disappears and now my podcast won't play from the media controls in my Android.

Since the player has completely vanish I go ahead and play someone else to make it appear and to my surprise my whole Queue list is also gone. Music and podcasts that were placed by me to hear them in a specific order (I like to hear podcasts and put some music in between them cause I am busy most of the time), all of the queue list gone. Now I have to go again and select new podcast and new music from scratch to make my queue list again

 this is a nuisance.

Hey there @nemy16santos,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, we'd suggest you perform a clean reinstall of the app on the affected device. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the stored cache is not leading to the Now playing view (the player at the bottom of the app) disappearing and the queue resetting. You can follow these steps to do it.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us the following:

  • The exact Spotify version you're running there.
  • The exact OS version of your mobile device.
  • Does this happen on a different device? You can ask for the mobile device of a relative or a friend to open your account and check.

Keep us in the loop!

I unistall the app and log in once again (downloaded all my songs again, it was a pain) and the problem still persist. It's not always but I have noticed that it happens when either I plug it in on my Android Auto (if this is the case, my queue gets completed erased and a random playlist or mine starts playing for no reason at all) or I plug it out of my Android Auto and that's the now playing disappears and the queue as well gets completely erase. Now i am scared to unplug my phone cause i don't want my queue erased. This sucks.

This is my device and current Spotify version:

Thanks for the details, @nemy16santos.

Could you make sure that there are no pending OS-updates on your Samsung phone and also check how much free storage you've got (both on the phone and if you're using an SD-card)?

You mentioned that this doesn't always happen when you plug your phone in on/out of the Android Auto, but have you noticed when it started for the first time and if it happens after something specific on your phone (when not connected to AA)?

Do you use a cable to connect your phone to the Android Auto and does the same behavior persist if you've connected the phone to another device (via Bluetooth or Connect for example)?

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

I checked, there is no pending updates on my samsung, i have it connected to AA via micro usb cable (Bluetooth is not supported by my car), and idk exactly when it started, it was a few months ago when i started using AA. I haven't tested out with another phone cause this is my only phone. I have few GB available on my phone of free storage.

Hey again @nemy16santos,

Thanks for the info!
I'm curious if using a different device such as one of a family member or a friend would showcase the same behaviour with your account on it. You've mentioned that it's not easy for you to test this but it's a good idea to try it out if possible, as this way we'd know if the issue is account- or device-related. An alternative approach would be to use someone else's account on your device.

On another note, regardless of the outcome of the abovementioned troubleshooting, keep in mind that we also have a thread with a very similar issue under investigation here. In case you feel like doing so, you can comment in there as well and subscribe to the thread to stay on top of any new updates.

Hope this helps! We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂

Hello Vasi.l,

So i upgraded my phone, I had a Samsung S10+ (yep pretty old) to a new Samsung S24 Ultra and the problem still happens but very rarely.

The same conditions apply, the queue will get erased and the bottom player would disappear as soon as I turn off my screen for AA or I unplug it.

The other problem of as soon as AA gets connected the queue gets erased and a random playlist would play, hasn't happen yet. So far I had this phone for a week and it has happened once or twice. I don't think it's an account issue tbh.

Hey @nemy16santos,

Thanks for your reply.

I've been using a Samsung S23 with AA for the last 3 months, but I haven't noticed the issue. Can you try and see if there's any pattern to this behavior (e.g. when you queue both music and podcasts/only music/only podcasts).

Keep me posted.
