My Question or Issue

Hello,
I can no longer connect my Suunto 7 watch to Spotify.
I either get an error message telling me to check my network (even though all apps are working) I'm trying to link my account, but the login screen keeps looping.

My watch is on the latest firmware available, Spotify is on 9.0.66.644
Wear OS on 2.45
Does anyone have an idea ?

Hi everyone,

Our tech team confirmed that due to recent changes, the device is unfortunately no longer compatible with Spotify. We really appreciate you taking the time to post about this and for all the detailed information you have provided during this investigation.

Hi there @Christophe__G,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community!

Since there seems to be a connection issue, we'd recommend starting off with a fresh install of the app on both devices - you can also perform a clean reinstall on your phone to make sure any damaged cache will be removed. Can you also let us know if you encountered any similar issues before and if you noticed this started happening after a specific event, such as an app or OS update?

It might also be worth re-pairing your watch with your phone to see if that makes a difference. Since you get an error message connected to your network, even though the other apps appear to be working, we'd also suggest testing this out with a different internet connection like a mobile hotspot, for example. This will rule out any connectivity issues.

Keep us posted.

Thank you for your reply.
I've already done all that, even factory reset the watch. I uninstalled the apps on both devices and reinstalled them.
The problem started on last  Friday.
After updating the app on the phone (firmware : 9.0.64.608)
The watch was connected, and after the watch app closed, I couldn't reconnect it.

My watch appears on the smartphone app, but is grayed out and says "not available"

Hey @Christophe__G,

Thanks for the reply and for the info you provided!

Your watch being greyed out in the Connect menu over WiFi might really be related to some connectivity issue so we would suggest trying the following as well:

  • Disable IPv6
  • Change the router frequency (2.4 ghz or 5 ghz)
  • Disable DHCP and change DNS

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply,
But I don't usually use the watch's Wi-Fi, and I have the same problem when I'm using my smartphone's Bluetooth, or even Wi-Fi on my smartphone.
I've tried different solutions and different networks.
And the app on my watch remains stuck on the login screen with Wi-fi or Bluetooth

Hey @Christophe__G

Thanks for your reply.

Just to confirm, have you tried using mobile data instead of Wi-Fi? It'd be helpful, if you could check.

On another note, make sure to clear the app data on the watch. To do so, head to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Apps > System Apps > Spotify. Then, select Clear Data and confirm. This will ensure there aren't any corrupted cached data that might be causing trouble.

Let us know how it goes.

I'm using mobile data, but to successfully install, and following the problem, I tried Wi-Fi. To no avail.
I've already cleared the data and cache, uninstalled and reinstalled the app. It didn't work.
I left the app running all night on the "connection" screen; it didn't change anything.

I am experiencing the same issue. Started about a week ago and persists after factory reset of watch.

Hey folks,

Hi @Dessi

My watch model is Suunto 7,

Android 9, Secutiry Update July 1,. 2021.

Spotify version: 9.0.64.598

Thanks

Hey @uzhz22,

Thanks for getting back to us so quickly and for the info!

It looks like you're not running the latest Spotify version so it'd be great if you can update your app and let us know if that makes a difference before we forward this to our tech folks.

@Christophe__G, if you're still running 9.0.64.608, it'd be great if you can update as well and check if the behavior persists on your end.

Keep us posted.
