My Question or Issue

I've been using spotify to stream to my NAD C338 via spotify connect for couple of years now.

Recently it stopped working - only google cast option is currently available on the newest spotify app.

As a part of troubleshooting I downloaded older spotify APKs and installed on my android phone to see if it helps - it did! The latest version of spotify app which shows spotify connect option to my NAD is 9.0.78.1116, starting from version 9.0.82.1008 the spotify connect is not available, just google cast.

Can the app be fixed so that I have spotify connect option back available on my NAD C338 please?

No change with 9.0.78.1116. Of course update was off.

Aa said before: works in 9.0.80.1320. There, Spotify Connect is default but Google Cast selectable.

Other workaround: Use a WiiM Group if you have more than one WiiM.

(This issue is important for me as Google Cast doesn't support gapless.)

I can confirm, 9.0.80.1320 works for me. Maybe I got something wrong with the version

Thank you very much for your help !!!

Same issue for me too 🥺

Haven't been able to use Spotify Connect to stream (ideally in hi res) to my AudioPro C20 and C5. I can do so from Spotify Desktop, so I'm guessing it's the same Android issue people here are having too.

Pixel 9a

Android 16

Spotify 9.0.94.274

I have the same issue with my Pixel 9, no Spotify connect options when selecting speakers, only Google cast options. I'm using several Audio Pro speakers that are grouped in the Audio Pro app, which is not possible with Google cast. Spotify on MacOS works fine, so it is definitely the latest Adroid update. For now I have used the 9.0.80.1320 apk as suggested here and happy to report that I have my Spotify connect option again! As others mention, turning off auto update in Google play until Spotify addresses this issue.

This is a major issue that needs to be resolved ASAP. Same here, on windows and iphone everything works as it should. But on all my Android devices, the option for Spotify connect is gone. Google cast is the only option. Tbh this is a deal breaker so if this isn't resolved soon it maybe time to cancel my premium subscription. When lossless was first introduced it worked fine but upon updating the app, the feature to use Spotify connect was removed. There's no reason why it shouldn't work as it was working before the update. Spotify, please resolve this right away.

Also, users prefer Spotify connect for its ease of use, seemless integration, gapless playback, and this year's headlining feature "lossless."

Not to mention that connecting to Spotify connect is near instantaneous while connecting to Google cast is significantly slower. Furthermore, I'm sure there are many like myself that have purchased speakers, amps, and streamers with the intent of using our devices with the Spotify connect feature. Removing this functionality ruins the enjoyment we have been getting from streaming and listening to music.

On one more note, in my house I enjoy joining someone's jam but this feature is also no longer available with the loss of Spotify connect. Please fix this immediately.

Same problem here. Its very annoying like what others had mentiones, spotify connect is instantaneous while googlecast is not and the connection drops more frequently than spotify connect.

Another update today and it's still broken. Unbelievable.

I wound up moving my Nest Audio to my guest network.  that allowed Spotify Connect on my soundbar.  Annoying bug

Yes, seems to work for me as well. S25.

Having the same issue with Pixel 7 Pro, now on latest 9.0.96.826.

Windows/macOS/iOS Spotify apps show Spotify Connect option to my Mu-so 2 just fine.

Basically I have to start the play with those apps then I can change songs with my Pixel 7.

I started noticing when playing will stop after less than 10 seconds (via Google Cast) for every songs and every DNS choices I tried.

Problem still here. Spotify has some business agreement with Google?  It seems to be like that. Pay for what you don't get.

Is there any acknowledgement from Spotify that they are working on it?

Hi Yordan,

This spotify bug is out there since second half of September, acknowledged by a lot of people that it is only an issue on Android, even with screenshots from IoS and other.
What more do you need for the tech team to start looking into this.
I drilled down further to see where "option to choose between spotify connect and google cast" was broken and ended up that it still worked in 9.0.80.1320 and was broken in 9.0.80.1343.
Can someone in the tech team please run a diff between those 2 versions ?

Thanks a lot for your support !

The issue is currently happening on
- Google Pixel (android) 8/10 (both running latest os 16)

- Spotify client v9.0.96.826

Same issue on Pixel 9 Pro. All my connected devices show only Google Cast in the Android app, but shows Spotify Connect on my MacBook.

A workaround that allows me play lossless via pixel 6 on my Cambridge audio cxnv2

1. Turn off phone wifi

2. In spotify you will see only spotify connect options (no google cast)

3. Select one, it will play lossless

4. Turn wifi back on.

me too

Same problem:
* Samsung Galaxy S23, SM-S911B/DS, latest Android 16 security patch level October 1, 2025
* Spotify 9.0.96.826

I can confirm mrfoo's workaround switching wifi off temporarily and finding the Spotify Connect devices "On other networks".

Same issue on my Android devices and now it appears to have made its way to the Windows desktop app.
