I am constantly on offline mode, I check it frequently to make sure because of a mistake on my part that last summer when I started using spotify... is there any reason why spotify is using data? My emblems are all green but if I go to a particular artist the download switch is off... the emblem stays green when I hit it and turns grey when I turn it back off

Spotify will still use background data occasionally to complete various housekeepimg tasks such as sending your listening history to the servers. You can turn off background data in your android settings.
