Desktop Controls On Samsung Galaxy 7

A month or two ago I was able to skip songs as many times as I want, go backwards to previously played tracks, and skip forward in the song about 10 seconds or whichever length I wanted. My account was still a free account, ads still showed advertising for Preimium and other products. Just today it reverted back to normal spotify. I'm pretty sad that I cant do these anymore but I just want to know why it happened in the first place.

This started happening in the middle of a long roadtrip where my phone was connected to a bluetooth device on my parents' car's aux slot.
