Is there anyway to disable spotify from having my Microsoft Sync in my Ford from being solely controlled through the car? It's entirely bothersome to try and navigate through my car to get to a different artist or playlist when I could just do it easily through my phone.
On my end, my mustang has no nav, and I cannot find any way to disable Sync from completely controlling my phone's spotify app. All it shows is the spotify logo with an arrow to a Ford logo. Super annoying.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Read the **bleep**ing posts before you question why over 100 comments worth of people complaining are there.
Not everyone has an upgraded nav unit with a full screen you can navigate through. Not everyone has the same functionality as you purchased in your 2015. If you dont have a problem with this then why are you in this thread?
Are you choosing playlists from your dash menu while driving? That sounds equally unsafe. You just sound like a judgemental **bleep**.
Not to mention your suggestion does nothing for the issue of having a passenger DJ during a trip or a carpool.
1) I never have to 'forcibly' close the app when I leave the car, I can load spotify fine after I've left the car (even if I leave bluetooth turned on)
2) Using your phone while driving IS illegal.. using the in car menu is not - that's what it's there for?
I've yet to find any issues with it, it must be an issue with the 'Older' system in the older cars because in the newer Fiesta ST, it works and does everything you'd want it to do.
No it doesn't.
I have a 2016 Ford F-150 with Sync 3. It is a couple of months old. The app is useless with AppLink. I mean useless.
It doesn't download all of my playlists. It doesn't even download all of my saved albums. You can't search for an artist out side of the saved artist it does display through either the web interface or voice commands. When you select a saved artist you get a random playlist of that artist instead of a list of albums which you would expect from the main mobile app interface.
Spotify is not liable for what you do or do not with your phone when you drive. So the whole, using your phone is ILLEGAL argument is ludicrous. Under your logic, the phone should be completely disabled while driving which obviously manufacturers don't do (so clearly they aren't worried about legal liability).
Finally, and most importantly, if you don't have applink enabled it should, well, not be enabled. Under no circumstances should Spotify force the issue because you happen to be in a Ford automobile with Sync 3. That is just a bug in my book and I fully suspect Spotify is working on the fix now.
Using your phone while driving is illegal in SOME states, mine is not included in that list. It is stupid to do whether the law says so or not. It is NOT illegal for a passenger to use it in any state.
I just dont understand why you are even replying to this thread. We have many pages of comments saying this is an issue and you think we are all just stupid and wrong cuz your new car is fine? Gtfo.
Read through all the pages of comments and then reply if you want to be involved. Dont just come here to tell us we are all wrong and your new car is better. I would much rather have my 2011 Lincoln than your 2015 Fiesta. Much easier for spotify to fix the issue than for us to buy new cars or dash units.
Going 120+mph in my car is illegal... so why is it an option on my pedal/dash? Sounds like you are saying we should all have governors on our cars that lock us out of speeding?
Sorry if im coming across angrily, but your first post was very dismissive of the issue because it isnt something you are experiencing personally.
I dont believe spotify is taking this seriously as their previous replies have pretty much told us it was done on purpose.
The car doesn't 'dowload' your music. It's downloaded on the phone as a playlist and spotify just access's that list and plays it. If the music isn't there.. you haven't got it on your phone correctly - Not the cars fault - nor spotifys.
Correct, spotify isn't liable for what you do, but if you want to be searching for your music while you drive. Why bother with spotify, you've got Youtube to use to distract you more of the time while you run a child over looking at your phone. - Youtube can probably fund the bill for your neglegance when you take them to court easier :)) - Create playlists before you get in the car and it's fine.
I 'personally' haven't come across any issues with it working how it works now. IMO it makes it safer because you don't need to touch your phone while driving to change playlists etc.
PS. I'd like to point out i'm from the UK. Not the US.
Dude, stop. You're just wrong/ignorant of the issues at hand.
Spotify downloads your phone's playlist, saved artists, saved albums, etc. over BT. On my 2016 truck with Sync 3 and a Galaxy S5 running Marshmellow Spotify doesn't download a complete list (it truncates that list horribly). There have BEEN MANY MANY reports of this bug and so far there have been zero fixes issued.
Telling Spotify customers to use YouTube is not a solution. Telling customers to change their work flow (ie. create custom playlists for THAT day...**bleep**!?) is just poor product management.
But the bottom line is this and you didn't address it: If AppLink is disabled, it should be disabled! Period.
This is just a bug plain and simply.
I have a 2015 Ford Fusion SE and controlling music through it is an absolute nightmare. I had the choice of choosing the large screen or the EcoBoost turbo engine, and I decided that the large screen wouldn't be necessary for me since the car had voice commands and I could mount my phone.
"Please say a command... *Beep*"
"Play Artist 'Red Hot Chili Peppers'"
"*Error* Not available. You can say Mobile Apps, Call, Text Message..."
"Mobile Apps"
"*Ring* Mobile Apps. Please say a command. *Beep*"

"SPOT-IF-EYE"
"*Ring* Spotify. Please say a command *Beep*"
"Play artist 'Red Hot Chili Peppers'"

"CHOOSE ARTIST 'RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS"
"*Error* You can say Choose Artist, Choose Song, Choose Playlist..."

At which point I frustredly slam my fists and open Soundcloud.
Very disappointing. I work for Ford. At least I have an answer for my customers, "spotify does not work correctly on your new Ford vehicle. Convert over to google play music". Cancelling subscription now. Thanks a lot guys.
