Fix Volvo Spotify app (Google play app) not updating playlists with music

Fix Volvo Spotify app (Google play app) not updating playlists with music

The app does not update the playlist when adding music. The list can be updated by name, but the list does not update when adding more music to it at all.
Reinstalling the app via built in Google Play in the Volvo car does not help at all.

Further to this thread, I am getting the same issue with incomplete playlists in an XC90. I’ve tried soft reset (hold button down on screen till system shuts off) hard reset (press rearscreen heater button till entire system including GPS and navigation reboots) oh and completely deleting the spotify app and reloading from scratch. I only get about 190 tracks of a 750 track playlist to play.
Did anyone have any other suggestions to try to fix this at all?

I rebooted the center display multiple times on my 2024 Volvo XC90 and Spotify still will not work.

If it's any consolation, I have exactly the same issue in UK on a 2022 XC90. Did you ever get a fix?

Volvo technical support tell me today that there is a limit of 200 tracks you can have in a Spotify AAOS playlist and that this is imposed by Spotify - not Volvo

I'm driving also an Ex30 and same issues.
When restarting the car you can't just press play to continue to listen to the latest played song. It won't work.

You first need to open the app fully and then press playlist and wait for them to appear before being able to move on listening the last played song.  It has nothing to do with phone. The application is downloaded on the Ex30 infotainmen itself (so no streaming using Bluetooth). has been this way from the start and happens on all playlists. Very annoying.

That could be because you have playlist with more than 200 songs. Spotify can't show more than 200 songs. So you need to divide your playlists in separate playlist of 200 songs if you want to be able to select them.

Yeah seems to be a ‘feature’ of the spotify software. The only way to avoid this is go to ‘random play’ in the Spotify app, at least that way it will eventually go through all your chosen playlist and doesn’t start from the beginning each time.

Ah but by selecting ‘random’ play it does find tracks from the complete playlist. Go figure Spotify!

My Question or Issue

Spotify only show the first 200 songs in a playlist if its bigger than 200 songs..

If I choose song number 200, i can click "next" to play song number 201 and so on, but can't see the song I'm playing in the playlist unless I open the "queue" view.

It's pretty annoying.. often I have to pick up my phone while driveing to find the song in the playlist I want to play easily. (which is a big "no-no")

So please fix this asap, I know other versions of Spotify have this issue too like the Apple carplay version. And I had the same issue on my Android phone a few years ago, but it's fixed there. so this should be a easy fix for AAOS too.

Appversion in my AAOS is 5.1.0.2

And yes I have reinstalled the app and it didn't help.

@Novy any update on this issue?

I’m afraid not, still limited to the first 200 tracks. I had thought that using ‘random play’ picks from your full playlist but after several hours use I’m not convinced this is the case.

If you find something different do please come back to me😊

SPOTIFY! Please fix. I only see the first 200 songs in my playlist on Polestar 2. Please fix it so i get the hole playlist. On AppleCarplay is the same problem.. fix.

I solved it by subdividing my playlists in playlist of max. 200 songs.
Stupid but easy work around.

That’s all very well, but my playlist has 950 tracks and is shared across multiple devices with no problem, except the Volvo. So in my view it’s a fault/limitation with software which should be easy to fix - just needs Volvo/Spotify to sort it out between them…..

Same issue here. SPOTIFY, you need to fix this asap. Why should we live with a limit of 200 tracks per Playlist? The update of a playlist with tracks, also doesn't work on my Polestar 2. I also tried all the troubleshooting like, reinstall, restart etc.

Nothing changed.

I did take this up direct with Spotify who said, more or less, ‘we have put a limit of 200 tracks on car infotainment to avoid download and performance issues’. They suggested using your mobile as the source via appleplay or android equivalent.

Seems to me this is a **bleep** limitation and unless Spotify change their mind we are stuck with it.
I don’t believe then this is a Volvo/Polestar issue, unless someone can correct me on this..🙄
