For some reason my microphone icon hs diseappeared from all keyboards only in spotify. Tried reinstalling app and deleting app info. In all other applications microphone is visible in all keyboards.
Mic was maybe the main reason installing Spotify & the reason for its success. IMO company's developers must restore it ASAP.
Sue them for producing an inaccessible product and charging you for it.
my keyboard(smartkeyboard trial) shows the microphone icon on my samsung galaxy J5 , but when I click it , it says : google speech-input can not be used in this field.
It has never been a problem before, but until Spotify has fixed it, Im out..being almost blind, I loved that microphone...
that is a terrible suggestion...you will be hitting a wall of sxxx!
How to fix the microphone icon issue on an android:
1
go to LANGUAGE AND INPUT on your samsung.
2
find the keyboard you use, you find that under STANDARD KEYBOARD and then click on that
3
click CONFIGURE KEYBOARD SETTINGS
4
And here you find the **bleep**!Deselect GOOGLE VOICE INPUT and sellect your keyboard.I do not know what keyboards name is, mine is called SMART KEYBOARD PRO, it costs three dollars and works great, I do not know if the free version SMART KEYBOARD TRIAL will work.
Hope it helps and have a great day!
deselct google voice input !
you do that in LANGUAGE AND INPUT , go to STANDARD KEYBOARD, click that, then click CONFIGURE KEYBOARD, there youdeselct GOOGLE VOICE INPUT and select your own keyboard, smart keyboard pro works perfect.
have a nice day!
This is a change which Spotify is responsible for and they are creating confusion by not explicitly stating that they have changed this and I do not understand the need for secrecy. This definitely creates safety issues while driving.
Here is a second work around to the Spotify missing-microphone-for-Search problem (see my earlier post in this thread for another workaround that uses the general Google search function).
1. Press Search in Spotify. Then tap the Search bar to bring up your Google keyboard.
2. Tap the ">" (More) button at the top left corner of the Google keyboard.
3. Tap the Magnifying Glass (Search) button at the top left of your Google keyboard.
4. The previously missing microphone icon should now be visible at the top right of your Google keyboard.
5. Tap the microphone icon and say your search words.
This works in Android 6.0 1 on my Nexus 5 phone. Hope it works for you.

I actually did precisely that, and they redirected me back to this site. They simply said that there's no microphone available. Is it some kind of contractual agreement with Google that is lacking? as of today, in the state of Oregon, it will be illegal for me to use Spotify if they do not have a microphone. If I want to listen to music during my work day (as a delivery driver) I will have to use some other music app.
Well they missed out on a new customer. I'm a truck driver that currently uses Pandora premium for my music, but wanted a little bit more variety in my stations so I thought I'd give Spotify a shot. But without the ability to search stations and songs with voice I'm going to have to pass on Spotify.
Seems like an easy fix which would solve a lot of fun safe driving issues Spotify
You can use Google assistant, just say ok Google then say what you are looking for and on spotify.
