Listen to Spotify on car using android and usb.

I'm trying to get my android phone to play music from spotify through usb to my car. I own a Mini cooper 2012 with the cd boost package. It's got a usb input and I'm able to play spotify on iOS devices perfectly fine through the usb and even change tracks with the controls on my steering wheel. The question is, how can I manage to do the same with android?

USB streaming isn't supported and as far as I knpw, even getting an audio system to recognise an android device as a mass storage device so it will see and play MP3 files stored on the phone is pretty hit or miss. So  I'm afraid the only way you can stream Spotify would be using bluetooth or an aux connection.
