Lock screen controls won't work

My Galaxy S7 edge lock screen controls won't work except for pause 3/4 of the time, have to open app. Also it won't respond to headphone controls or watch controls.

Had exactly the same problem but adding an exception for Spotify in battery optimizer helped for me.
