Music will not play. :(

Music will not play. :(

I have been happily using Spotify premium on my HTC Desire (Android 2.3.3) for over a year. This week, playback stopped working.

Here's what happens: I tap on a song in one of my playlists. The mini player appears at the bottom, showing album art and the Pause symbol (indicating that the song is playing). No sound comes out of the phone. I can expand the mini player into the fullscreen player, and I see the marker moving through the song and the timer counting as though it were playing. However, if I navigate away from the player -- by switching to another app or even backing up to my playlists -- and then come back to the fullscreen player, the timer resets to 0:01.

This happens whether I play a downloaded song or a streaming song. It happens whether I have headphones plugged in or am using the speaker.

Audio in general is working fine. Pandora and Podkicker play with no problems.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and clearing all user data.

Make sure to restart your phone after installing the app - this often fixes the no sound issue. Worth a go even though your specific problem might be a bit different

Listening on Windows, Android and Sonos. Tweeting it at @davelicence

That did it. 🙂 Thanks.
