New Android App Logo can't be changed

My Question or Issue

The app icon was changed today to a hideous discoball inconsistent with everything else on the screen. I see Spotify still uses the clear 2-tone logo for literally EVERYTHING else. Is there a way I can get that on my home screen? Or do I seriously need a third party icon app to workaround Spotify's user unfriendliness?

Thanks for reaching out via the Community and we really appreciate your feedback on this change.

Keep in mind that this will only be our app icon for a short period of time and it is there due to our anniversary. Make sure your app is updated to ensure that you revert the icon back once we turn it off.

My icon has also changed to the glitter ball version (on my samsung phone), and now I can't access my usual free podcasts, and my library of saved ones has disappeared.  I've tried re-installing it, and signing in (I never used to do this), and I just get a message that say:  'something went wrong Have another go? Try again'  And when I click try again, nothing changes.  It's not been working for a few days now, and i'm wondering about trying alternative options to hear my podcasts.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply.

The glitter ball logo is purely cosmetic, so the issue you've described is unrelated to it. The "Something went wrong" issue on mobile is something we've discussed and addressed in this thread, so check it out and post any relevant info you have there.

Thanks for joining the thread.

Can you please clarify whether you want to change the app icon or you're seeing the "Something went wrong" error message? 

In any case, reinstalling the app won't prevent you from streaming your music afterwards, you'll just need to redownload your offline playlists/albums.

A new logo does not really represents Spotify. I have been a loyal Spotify user and have always loved the logo is part of identity and now you want to take it back from us? I’m disappointed… probably will close my accounts

I don’t just jump on the bandwagon and complain because other people are complaining. I’m only going out of my way to send this message because it is honestly so horrendous… please change the app icon back urgently. Not when it’s scheduled… please change it now, I shouldn’t have to see such a horrendous thing every time I unlock my phone, it’s seriously bad! Does Spotify use blind people to approve artwork and designs? Who gave it the thumbs up!?

People who don't like the new icon, don't worry. It's temporary, in celebration of Spotify's 20th anniversary. I personally don't have the new icon, but I'd like to have it for a few days.

This started with the latest update to Spotify (the icon is more emerald than the older lime color). I hate it, but can't find a way to disable the "feature."

The Spotify app icon changed to a 20th-anniversary design, but it has reverted back to the original. I would like a setting within the app to switch between the original icon and the 20th-anniversary icon.
