New update deleted most useful feature of Android app - browsing saved tracks by Artists

Solved!

New update deleted most useful feature of Android app - browsing saved tracks by Artists

This is concerning premium users mostly, however I am sure that there are free users that relied on this feature too.

Alongside the new update, which changed the library UI in Android app, one of the most useful features disappeared: browsing saved songs by artists. Artist bookmark now lists only artists that you observe instead of listing all that you have saved songs of, and while clicking on artist now their online full page will appear instead of the list of saved songs sorted by albums. This is extremely infuriating for people like me, who kept their all offline music in library instead of playlists and have multitude of artists they do listen to. Now I cannot listen to my chosen tracks of one artist without reffering to self created playlist as Artists bookmark will lead me to their full page. Moreover, I cannot browse by artists AT ALL in offline mode as those full pages are purely online thing. They even deleted my Albums section, as Albums bookmark now lists only albums which are saved as a whole and do not list partially saved ones. I will not create 150 playlist for all of my Artists so if Spotify will not bring the feature back, I will have to consider withdrawing from subscription. Because why would I need and offline music app which I cannot use in offline mode in any usable way?

For one hit wonders. You can easily like a single specific song without liking the artist.

This all of this! Spotify has also closed the idea people were voting on to change back to the old ui. Why do they refuse to listen to their customers? Nobody likes these changes, they just take away half the functionality of the app and all the things people liked about using spotify.

So I finally bit the bullet and followed every artist of every song I like, just so they would show up where I could find them.

And then I get on today to find that they've taken that away from me too. Now I've got this huge list of artists, and clicking them just takes me to the artist's page. So I can't listen to just the three songs of theirs I like, I can only listen to everything.

I don't have Premium, but all this **bleep** they're pulling only guarantees that I never will. I swear, every day it's been some fresh **bleep** when I just want to listen to my music.

ETA: I would like to point out that I was not swearing as much as it seems, their algorithm is just feeling sensitive. It was all things you could say around a 4th grader.

That's not how it works for me. When I select an artist that's in the artist tab, I only see the songs that are in my library. I am on Premium however. I don't know if that's the difference.

Figures. It's not enough that I have to listen to their ads all the time, now they're taking basic functionality away from free users too.

Well please don't be offended, but I can understand users of the FREE App not getting everything "just the way they want it" - but when PAYING users can't get the simply things they want - the things they WERE ALREADY USED TO HAVING - that's what I can't understand, and won't tolerate.

Again - they have until the end of the year to bring back these basic, commonsense abilities, or I cancel my Premium Subscription, and my daughter's too - and move to another provider.

Come on, Spotify - I'm routing for you !!

I'm not offended, but I'm not sure why you're putting "just the way they want it" in quotations like I said anything like that. I'm just talking about basic usability, not particular preferences.

But it's okay. I've found a work-around for what I need. I've got my basic usability, more or less.

I genuinely hope that Spotify fixes these issues so that you guys can get back the service you're paying for, or they will at least learn the error of their ways when you all leave.

It's just SO ANNOYING. A standard feature on digital music devices for 20 YEARS! The arrogance and conceit of Spotify to assume to just change it. It's an absolutely standard way for accessing the saved songs on your device (Artists/Albums/Songs or Artists/Songs).

This topic came up at the pub over the weekend and all of the people who had updated (admittedly only 4!) all said how irratating and illogical the change was. I for one have resisted Apple Music despite it being a mild incoveniance to do so on an iPhone but if this isn't sorted ASAP , it's grounds for divorce!! SO ANNOYING

P.S. please don't bother replying with your irratating standardised responses, I just wanted to vent, I'm aware Spotify doesn't give a ****

Same here. After the last update it got worse. Playlists order has become unpredictable 😒

Me again, and for the last time. As Spotify flatly refuse to talk to us, give an explanation or even acknowledge our existence then I refuse to give them my hard earned money.

I am off. Account closed. It's been a blast (until they ruined it!)

Have fun guys.

i agree, and you can´t delete some bad songs from an downloaded album.

all of this is very frustrating, i download my favorite albums from an artist and want to be able to shuffle from all downloaded content from that artist, cant do that now.

so if i quit Spotify, what other music streaming is the best?

Deezer, Google or Tidal?

witch one is like "old" spotify?

Amazon Music - Their UI is a bit more cluttered than the old Spotify, but
you get just what you save to your library. No need to "follow" an artist
to have them show up.

I encourage everyone to give one star to the app in the Play Store. Hopefully it will attract attention

I am now trying a 3 month free google music, works just fine.

i download all the albums of my artists and then i can listnen to "only downloaded" and if i go to "song" i can delete a specific song on a downloaded album that i dont like.

Just like Spotify was, never going back 🙂

Just making sure Spotify doesn't forget that everyone is still **bleep** about this. I have been trying to figure it out for a couple weeks as I occassionally use Spotify and when I need music I have just been searching for it to get what I want quickly.

Just this week I decided to dig in to what was going on-- thought it was a glitch or an error and found out from the community and their closure of the community vote that it was entirely intentional and looks like they are ignoring customer feedback.

I invested a lot of time in setting up my Spotify premium account but if this isn't fixed soon I will be finding something else.

Recommendations for a replacement?

Spotify Cares tweeted that the app would not be reverted. Yep, they care.

Take your opinions to Google Play and iTunes music stores and give the app one star. Nobody is listening here or cares.

Personally I have moved to Qobuz and I like it.

Please for the love of god, go back to the way it was.  I don't want to "follow" artists I like, I want to organize my library however I want and that is by artist.  Taking that away is one of the dumbest things I think I've ever seen in UI/UX design.

I'm guessing that removing  swiping down to reveal the search box is another intentional Idea to annoy us
