Hi all,

This should be fixed with the release of 0.7.3.

If you're still getting this problem, please post with the version of Spotify you're currently using as 0.7.3 isn't fully rolled out yet.

Is someone reading this or not???

Anyone with this prblm?

Some solution?

I read it but I don't want anything going to my facebook so I can't test it. Maybe others can confirm if it is or isn't working for them.

Does look like a possible issue:

Not on android so can't really confirm.

I have the same problem. Since the update to 0.7.1 I don't get anything logged in my Facebook Activity Log. I have the same behaviour on 3 different Android devices running 3 different versions of Android.

I've escalated both threads.

Hey guys! I can assure you we haven't forgotten about this one.

Currently we're gathering info to replicate this on our end. When I've got an update I'll post it here

The problem I am reporting is that the Android app no longer broadcasts to Facebook (in activity log). However other clients still are able to make the necessary API calls to Facebook to put updates in my activity log.

At first I thought this might be a bug on the facebook side, because the problem seemed to started when I selected the option to show a Spotify "section" as my "music likes" on Facebook. That is possibly related, or it is one data point at any rate.

A few other facts:

  • I have logged into the Spotify app on a mac and I was able to get it to broadcast from there.
  • I have logged into the Spotify web player and and it broadcasts from there (I have not tried playing from the experimental native Linux application, but I have it installed).
  • I have turned on and off all settings in the Android app to no avail. Still no broadcast to Facebook.
  • I uninstalled and reinstalled the Android app to no avail (other than to clear away all cached music files).
  • uninstalled the Facebook app to no avail.
  • There does not seem to be any way on facebook to undo the setting that integrates Spotify into your music "likes" section. I am very suspicious of that feature being somehow related.

My question is this: is there any difference between the type of API request that the Android app makes versus other clients?  What change, either on the Facebook side or on my device could be causing the requests either not to happen or to be ineffectual?

Device details:

  • Android phone: Samsung Galaxy Note II / Model SCH-I605
  • Android Version 4.1.2

ADDITIONAL INFO: I checked my facebook activity log, and the last time my device successfully posted to facebook was 11 October. Based on other reports (PeteOliva987) of the problem starting 12 October, this is probably a helpful clue. Was anything pushed on that date that could have regressed that feature?

Thanks,

Rob

@rplevy I moved your post to the android thread concerning this issue.

I just wanted to report that I am using Spotify on my HTC One and I just noticed I have not been broadcasting info from it to Facebook since Oct. 12.

PeteOliva987,

That's a very potentially telling clue.  Oct 11 is the last time my device was able to post to Facebook.

This indicates that it was change that either Spotify or Facebook pushed on that date. What changed?

Rob

Please don't promise that you fix, we need results right now.

So what is taking so long??? If this happened after update of app, why you don't check what you changed and better bring old app back until you find problem. Now you're unable to fix!!

Please no promises, only fix and fast. Ok?

I'm sorry to all, but I'm really mad, crazy, tired, hungry, annoyed that 100% of my songs doesn't scrobble into Face**bleep**book on mobile Android app!!!

Just results, no empty promises, customer not so helpful service.

hpguru,

Software is hard. Relax, it's not a life-critical software system. You will live. It sucks that this feature is regressed, but I personally am happy that it is being worked on.  I'm sure it's not the only bug and there are probably other bugs that are more directly tied to revenue that they need to be concerned about.

That said, looking forward to this not being broken! 🙂

If you can't, just call Saul. ™

Just updated and can confirm the Android app is scrobbling now!

Interestingly, the Web Player is now not scrobbling to FB. This is new behavior. It was not previously (but the web player is only experimentally, not officially released, right?).
