Spotify App Version

9.0.52.505

Plan

Premium

Device

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G

Operating System

Android 14 / One UI 6.1

Issue

When listening to a podcast with video, but in audio-only mode, the app tends to crash or view an empty PiP window when put in background.

Step-by-step

  1. Open a podcast episode with video
  2. Switch to audio only
  3. Tap home screen

=> Experienced result: An empty PiP window is displayed or the App crashes (one of both).

=> Expected result: App minimises without any PiP, since I activated audio only.

Info: The issue does not appear if you "minimise" the podcast episode in the app after step 2.

Hi there @jtskzxofit,

Thanks for your post here in the Community and for bringing this to our attention.

I checked this from my side and had no issues while listening to Audio only in podcasts with video available. Since we weren't able to replicate it from our side, we recommend that you try the following:

  • Clean the app's cache by going to Settings > Storage. Restart your device and check if that helps.
  • Clean reinstall the app by following these steps. You won't lose content, but you might have to re-download your offline content.
  • Log in with a different account (a relative or friend's will do) and check if you can replicate the behavior there. This will help you identify if this is account-related.

If nothing helps, and you'd like to continue checking how to resolve this, don't hesitate to write back. If you do, it'd be helpful if you could send a video recording of this behavior. You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

We'll be here.
