Hey folks,
We're creating a new thread (here's the old one) to gather reports about the above issue where the progress bar of a song keeps moving but there's no sound coming out.
Some users have reported that disabling the following options resolved the issue for them:
Here are also some general troubleshooting steps that are worth trying:
If those don't help, let us know the following info so we can relay it to our tech team:
We appreciate your cooperation in this!
Here are my insights into this:
1. I have a Samsung Galaxy S23. The issue also used to happen on my previous phone - Google Pixel 5. Spotify version 9.0.76.1126. Android version 15 (1 Aug 2025 patch level)
2. I use USB-C wired headphones.
3. The issue happens in offline as well as online mode.
4. The issue is triggered when music is playing and mobile reception drops in and out. It happens in the lift at work and it happens on trains regularly.
5. I have experimented with various things to try to fix the problem once it occurs. I have tried:
a) Stopping and starting playback of the song. Doesn't fix the problem.
b) Skipping to the next song. Doesn't fix the problem.
c) Minimise Spotify into background, re-open app, stop and start playback. Doesn't fix the problem.
d) Force-killing the Spotify app and restarting. This fixes the problem.
e) In Spotify, toggling playback to a different speaker (e.g. the phone's speaker) and then back to USB headphones. This fixes the problem and I think is a major clue.
I am happy to sideload a developer edition of Spotify that writes logs, recreate the problem and then get the logs off the phone if you want to work with me to debug.
I can also attest that it happens to me as well. And yes it happens if mobile data drops for a second. It makes no sense because a song is supposed to buffer a certain part of the song for this exact scenario. But yet my troubleshooting steps have been about the exact same as yours.

My Question or Issue
I've uninstalled Spotify and reinstalled it multiple times. There are now outstanding updates.
What is causing this? It happens on my phone, using android auto, using Bluetooth, using wired speakers. It worked fine yesterday but now it's suddenly broken
This happens to me literally every single time I try to listen using a wired connection and firmly believe that if Samsung had kept an aux port, this wouldnt be an issue.
It seems like this happens every time my phone drops from 5G to 4G. I have set my Spotify app to listen offline and use downloaded playlists and it still happens. Have done all of the troubleshooting recommendations with no solutions. I can get music playing again after reconnecting the wired connection, but it might stop again seconds later. The ONLY solution for me has been to listen on airplane mode, which sort of defeats the purpose of being able to listen on my phone.
So, I have my premium acc logged in, in both my phone (realme C75) and laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad 3). I don't usually play in my laptop but the other day when I did it was playing fine, then I wanted to play the music in my phone but the sound was not coming. So, i checked the device option and checked whether the music is playing in the device I'm listening to and yes it was but still no sound so then I tried connecting my bluetooth connection because i usually use my bluetooth earbuds to listen music from my phone but there also I'm facing the same problem NO SOUND. So the i cleared the cache, reinstalled the app, made a free acc to see if there is a problem with the acc but the problem was not with the acc because it was playing fine in the laptop so the prblm is with the app. So, today also I cleared the cache again, cleared data also and forced stop the app and restarted my phone . When I logged in a played a song the sound came for one second just a second and again the same prblm no sound. Meanwhile all of this was happening i connected to the customer excutive he told me he will look into it till then I use the web Spotify and I did try and it was playing there but the only problem is in web after a while it glitches because as it is not a app so the webpage resets.
