Podcasts no longer pausing when Google Maps is talking.

Podcasts no longer pausing when Google Maps is talking.

Until recently, whenever my phone is connected to my car via Android Auto, Spotify would pause the playback on a Podcast whenever Google Maps would speak. This no longer seems to be the case.

 

Is there a way to get Spotify to pause the playback in Podcasts when something else is using the speakers? It's annoying to have to rewind each time the navigation speaks.

Our team has deployed a fix for this and everything should work as expected now. I'm happy to see that it's already fixed for some of you! If you still have it, then make sure your app is up to date. If it persists, then log off and then back into the app twice in a row, this should force a sync to the Spotify services and resolve the issue.

Hi, it seems that for me this fix did not help. My podcast pauses while google maps is speaking but th sound from google maps is not playing. This only happens for podcasts. When I listen to musik, maps is interrupting and speaking, when I switch to podcast, maps is interrupting but not speaking. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply. Your device doesn't seem to be on the latest version, so please consider updating it and seeing if the behaviour persists. You can also perform a clean reinstall to ensure any possible conflicts or corrupted data are cleared.

Same problem here.  Pixel 7, latest versions of Spotify and Android available.  Super annoying to miss 10 seconds of podcast every time you get a driving instruction.

Just to confirm, have you tried the process of logging out and back in twice as suggested by @Joan? If so and the issue persists, we recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article to see if it makes any difference.

 

Also, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if the behavior persists? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out. This will help us understand if it could be device-related or not.


Lastly, include in your next response the OS version of your device, along with the exact Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.

Two Years later and the Issue still exists. When i listen to music in Spotify everything works Great. But when i listen to Podcast everything turns silent During Mapping directions. 
Is there a working workaround?

Thanks for reaching out to the Community! We've moved your comment to this thread because we've recently reported issues with Spotify and Google Maps here. We can keep a better track of what's happening on this thread. 


First up, have you tried any troubleshooting steps? If you haven't, performing a clean reinstall of the app it's a good start. You can do it by following the steps on this article. If you already tried that, send us the make, model and OS version of your device, along with the exact Spotify version you're currently running. 


Additionally, 
would you mind sending us a video recording of this behavior? You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

 

Lastly, if anyone else is still experiencing issues while listening to Podcasts and using Maps, let us know and we'll look into it.
