Radio autoplay when playlists end

Solved!

Radio autoplay when playlists end

For the past few days, whenever I get to the end of a playlist or album, instead of simply ending, it will begin playing a radio station based of the playlist I just listened to. Is this a glitch or a new feature, and either way how do I get it to stop? I make playlists in order to have a specific set of songs, the exact opposite reason one listens to radio, which is a random and new set of songs.

Hey @Pyrobri, have you tried reinstalling the app, and/or checked if it happens in any other device as well?

Yep happens on my Galaxy, my Surface 3 tablet with Fall Creators Update and my work PC with old Creators Update..

That's odd.

If you have Autoplay off, no songs in your Queue, reinstalled the app and the problem persists, I suggest you get in touch with the Spotify Cares staff - They'll be happy to help you further with this.

There are a few ways to contact them. One is via Twitter - just send them a Direct Message @SpotifyCares.

Another great way is to use the Facebook support. Shoot them a message here: Spotify Cares. They generally reply very quickly.

If you don't want to use the social media channels, you can fill out the online contact form. Make sure to reply to the automated email you'll receive directing you back to the help pages, even if it's from a no-reply. Support usually gets back within a day or two.

Let me know if this helps!

I'm too broke for premium, so I don't have a queue.

Hey @alaurv,

Try a clean reinstall of Spotify to see if this fixes the problem:

Can you please update this option to split into on wifi or on mobile data?

I don't mind having autoplay on but I don't want it when I am on mobile data as it eats up a lot of data.

Hey @frozenpear, that's a good idea.

You can post it here. If it gets enough votes it might be implemented!

Hello, everyone.

My question is somewhat silly, sorry for asking, if there is already a solution to this:

From time to time (no specific patterns found) my settings are reset. I can live with repeat and randomizer options, but it is a pain to listen to some music I do not want to. Basically, after my playlist ends the radio kicks in and this is especially frustrating for me.

So, what should I do with this?

Hey @Hepo3, thanks for writing!

Just turn off the Autoplay in your account settings and the radio won't start after your playlists end 🙂

Let me know if need help with that!

OR, let me know if you've already turned this function off.

Yep mine STILL does this even though settings have not been reset.
I find it incredibly annoying that I was driving the other day and could not stream music that was part of my collection as data streaming was not allowed.
However the radio '*feature*' which is turned off, allowed music by someone I have never heard of to start playing in my car!!
This needs fixing.
I have also found over the past few months that something is actually resetting my downloaded tracks, i.e. deleting them without asking or notifying me which is how I came about the issue above in the first place...!!

As myself and others have already stated, this IS turned off but the app ignores it and does what it wants anyway, often using my data allowance also.

Surely I've turned it off on all devices.

As I've already stated, this still gets reset from time to time, so it's not android specific.

Might be connected with regularity of device usage.

Hey @Hepo3 and @Pyrobri,

Can you please let me know what Spotify versions and devices is this happening on? Have you tried reinstalling the app? Is it happening across all devices?

I get it on both my Android App (8.4.37.587 armV7) on my Galaxy S8+
and also on my PC (1.0.69.323.g0f4f2ad0 - Windows Store Version)
Not tried it on Xbox for a while now but it was happening there too..

I ahven't tried reinstalling on my phone as it takes me a couple of hours to then re-download my tracks and seeing as I have had to do that already this week I don't fancy doing it again.
Next time it dumps all my downloaded music I will try re-installing.

I did try re-installing on my work PC however and this had no effect.

As a side note, it would be great if you could introduce a feature where people can tag music to download, then whenever someone sets up a new device or re-installs the app their download-tagged tracks will download automatically. Saves me looking through hundreds of albums every time...

I don’t have the option to switch off Autoplay in my app.

Hi all,

It sounds like a lot of you new users to this thread might be having some difficulty in keeping this feature turned off or having trouble finding the toggle for Autoplay in the Playback Settings menu.

We'd like you to:

  • Check your device for software updates and perform them.
  • Make sure you do a clean reinstall of the app after that.
  • Go to your device's settings and ensure that Spotify has Mobile Data toggled off.

  • Go into the app and check if Autoplay is there in Settings > Playback. Untoggle the feature.

Once all of that's done, this should be resolved for you.

Thanks!

But the point is also still that autoplay behavior when on mobile data must
be switchable.

Is there no awareness of how much grief this can cause your customers when
they receive a hefty mobile phone bill from their telecoms operator?

Especially when considering roaming this can bankrupt someone.

How can I go to the Radio Station that is automatically playing?

I want to see the full list of songs and save the station for future use. But right now the left sidebar on my desktop doesn't show what playlist/station the music is coming from.

Hey @Nathan13, thanks for writing!

You can see the Radio icon on the bottom of your app. Just tap it to see the radios you've played, as well as the current one.
