Radio autoplay when playlists end

Solved!

Radio autoplay when playlists end

For the past few days, whenever I get to the end of a playlist or album, instead of simply ending, it will begin playing a radio station based of the playlist I just listened to. Is this a glitch or a new feature, and either way how do I get it to stop? I make playlists in order to have a specific set of songs, the exact opposite reason one listens to radio, which is a random and new set of songs.

I turned off autoplay. Problem still there.

My autoplay is off and problem is still there.

The only problem with that setting is that it does not actually turn off autoplay if you play from 'songs' rather than a playlist. This happens to me both on my laptop and my phone. It is HIGHLY irritating that when I want to play my music, if I skip a song it switches to bad suggestions... On top of that, the only way I have to fix this is to use offline mode. Someone who pays for this service should not have to endure the rollout of a badly made 'feature', use the free users as lab rats please.

I really like this feature. However, in the last week or so, it has stopped working even though it is switched on in my settings. Is there a known issue with this?

OK...  that makes sense... I thought they were 'downloaded' but they were just in my queue (online playlist?) still...  so I created a file name and right clicked on the song playing to add to my list. After a few I went offline and played them and it still played the next song and so on...  it did NOT stop after one track with that feature turned off in settings. So there is a bug in the system and I wish the powers that be would jump in this forum and say something... anything.... just to keep us updated...  thanks anyway.

So, why does it still keep playing the radio although my settin has been switched off months ago???

I don't want to pay for Premium and then suddenly notice that I'm listening to some **bleep** that I have not picked on my playlist!

This thread relates to the playing of recommended music once a playlist or album finishes @MinnaV. If you are a free user and you are unhappy with suggested songs being played when you listen to a playlist or album, join the other free users in the topic over here.

I'm a Premium user and this keeps bugging me. The setting is off.

Hey @MinnaV,

In this case I suggest you get in touch with the Spotify Cares staff - They'll be happy to help you further with this.

There are a few ways to contact them. One is filling out the online contact form.

Another great way is to reach Spotify via Twitter - just send them a Direct Message @SpotifyCares.

You can also use the Facebook support. Shoot them a message here: Spotify Cares.

Hi Meredith,

I LOVE the new autoplay feature!

But, how do I go back and find the playlist for the radio thingy?
I was doing a paint job and the album had finished and the autoplay playlist started. A few songs in there was a great tune that I had never heard before, but it was over before I realized I should see what it's called. How do I go back and find that information??

You should be able to check your play history using the desktop client for PC.

Hi Joe,
Does that include the songs that Autoplay started after an album is
finished? Because I can't seem to find those tunes in the 'recently played'
on my desktop client

Ah,ok. Connect to your PC from the settings or now playing bar. This should force the history on the PC to refresh and show music you listened to on your mobile.

I listen to music as I fall asleep and I keep my playlist short, so it ends after an hour and a half, and doesn't disturb my sleep. One day I woke up to some upbeat Slipknot song and was annoyed, especially when I saw that it was playing from a radio station based on my playlists. I did some research and found that I had to turn off auto play in the settings. I did that and it fixed my problem... Until a few nights ago. I haven't woken up to the music, since surprisingly the music "based off of my playlists" is a thousand times for accurate than what was playing before for some reason, but this morning I woke up and a Staind song was paused in the middle of the song.
So I have three questions. Why is it doing this? How do I fix it? And why did I wake up and the song was paused... Which is very weird.

If it's good to know, I have premium and did check to see if auto play was on, and it wasn't.

Thanks.

I actually like this feature, but I would like the option to turn it off when I'm not on a wireless network. I play downloaded lists when I'm driving specifically so I don't use data. Can this be separated into two options, one for wifi, one for data?

Thanks a lot... very helpful.

That is how the slider should work but even though I have turned it off I keep getting auto played tracks that I don't have in my library and have no interest in listneing to start to play at the end of an album.

Please fix this infuruating bug...

I turned autoplay off, but those random songs still keep playing!! What do I do now??

Hey @alaurv,

Have you checked if you have songs added to your Queue?

Yes this happens no matter what.
I never listen to playlists, they bug me, I listen to albums.
So I go to an artist, I pick an album, I click play on that album.

The only items in the queue are from that album.
As soon as it gets to the end it goes off and downloads/plays tracks that I don't want to listen to which annoys the **bleep** out of me, I never had this problem with Groove music..
