Repetitive skipping

Spotify continously skipped over 10+ songs and then stopped and played one and it doesnt stop once the app is open. Does anyone have a similar issue?

Hii so it does seem that the issue was the Beta program at the moment it seems pretty to be broken so for the app to run properly you need to leave the beta program and delete and reinstall the app

Here's a update Spotify is no longer allowing anything to play and the media player just closes in whole

Hey there @Sleep1_1time

Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community!

Currently there are two issues involving song skipping in the app that our relevant teams are aware of:

- Music on Chrome pauses and songs skip on sequence

- Songs skip after a minute when using Spotify Connect in Lossless on LG soundbar

If you're experiencing one of these, make sure to leave your report and info in the relevant thread and we'll make sure to update everyone there once we have any news about it.

If the issue you're experiencing is different, could you let us know if this is happening on one specific device or it's the same on all your devices? On another note, would you mind giving a different internet connection a go to see if the same happens?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hello! Its happening on the app itself I did attempt to change the internet connection it made no difference it is happening on one device I dont know if mentioning the other device it worked successfully on was a laptop in a browser is helpful but the device it doesn't work on is a android version 9.1.46.1922

Thanks for the info @Sleep1_1time.

Since this is happening only on an Android device, did you by any chance notice when it occurred for the first time? Perhaps after an update?

It'd be very helpful if you could share some more details of this behavior, so we can get a better understanding:

  • Is this maybe happening with a specific playlist?
  • Are the skipped songs greyed out?
  • Are you seeing any error messages?

There could be different reasons for the app to skip and to narrow-down the possible causes, consider doing the following:

  • Log out everywhere from the Account Page, then log in only on your Android device.
  • Give Spotify a clean reinstall which includes clearing the cache (when corrupted it can cause different issues).
  • Disable any battery optimization settings on your device.
  • Toggle off Autoplay within Spotify's settings.

We'll be on the lookout 🙂

Thanks for the video and screenshot @Sleep1_1time.

Make sure to clean reinstall the app then re-download it from Google Play

This should help and we're just a post away if there's anything else we can assist you with. Cheers!

I already did, unfortunately, it was no help

Hi, I'm having the same problem as the person that made the report, yesterday it started skipping songs time and time again, stopped and started playing, I was connected to the wifi at the time, none of the songs were grayed out.

Now today that I tried to listen to some music it's telling me that something went wrong as well. I have already cleared cache, unistalled and reinstalled, logged out of my devices and logged in.

Its been a day and unfortunately for me nothing has changed no matter how many times I completely delete it

Hey folks,

Thanks for letting us know!

In order for us to take a closer look and assist you further, it'd be great if you can send us a screenshot from the Spotify page of the Google Play Store on your phone, so we can check if there are any pending updates. Another thing we'd like to ask you about is sharing your current Spotify version, which you can find by following these steps. We'll do our best to help you get to the bottom of this afterwards.

Keep us posted.

Hey @Mixmini,

Thanks for the screenshots and for troubleshooting this with us!

A reinstall from the Play store has been confirmed to fix the issues you're experiencing, but it can take up to 24hrs for this to reflect on your end and since you confirmed you've already cleared cache and reinstalled today, let's check back again tomorrow to see if it's resolved.

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

Hii its now the next day and the app is still the same

Hi! Can confirm! Already reinstalled 2 times at different hours

Hey @Sleep1_1time,

Thanks for your reply!

Can you also send us screenshots of what you see when you search for Spotify in the Play Store, as well as the current version you're running, so we can check? In case you're also using the Beta version of the app as @Mixmini, we'd recommend leaving the program for a while and installing the regular version to see if that helps. You can find more under FAQs here

@Mixmini, since you're still experiencing this, we'd recommend leaving the Beta program as well as mentioned above to test if you get the same behavior afterwards.

Keep us posted.
